In particular, the seminar will focus on such heritages of history as are rooted as ineradicable parts of the current state of language. English will be the most often cited and analyzed language, though some other languages as well will be examined from time to time. ことばは「歴史」と「現今」が絶え間なく、動的に作用し合うなかで形成されていくというのが歴史言語学の要訣である。この観点からことばを見直す作業に着手したい。とりわけ、現今のことばの血肉と化し、古い時代のことばの姿が化石化したものであることがわからなくなっているような歴史遺産を発掘していくことを主目的とする。英語を主たる研究対象とするが、英語との関連で他言語にも言及する。 ★演習の演習の運営方法／運営方法／Class Style★ Style★ -The textbook will be designated before the start of the semester. 開講前に教科書を指定する。 -Each class starts with a mini-presentation to be made by the presenter of the day in 10 minutes; (Each presenter will be assigned with 10 to 20 pages of the textbook, so they will focus on a specific topic discussed within the assigned pages and present their research-based ideas on it. (since 2009). Recently, he has been appointed as an editor for the two peer-reviewed linguistic journals published by CA-based David Publishing Company (since September 2012). Those considering graduate studies in such a field as linguistics, applied linguistics, or communication studies will also benefit from intellectual activities in the course. However, it is not the instructor’s intention to open or close the door depending on the degree of your career-mindedness. 言語教師を志望する学生向きである。また、大学院で言語学、応用言語学、コミュニケーション論等を専攻することを考える学生にも好適であろう。
