Third Sunday of Easter
PASTOR’S POTPOURRI
Dear Beloved Parishioners:
Inserted in this week’s bulletin is a letter from Archbishop Aquila which was read last Sunday throughout the valley’s Catholic
Masses. It tells of his vision for the future of the valley. I will be moving on to another assignment after 10 years with you here
at St. Clare and St. Mary’s.
I am to be pastor of St. Jude Parish in Lakewood, a suburb of Denver. I give thanks to God for this experience among you and ask God’s
blessing on all that will be happening in the next months and years.
Obviously, I will miss you. I am grateful for all of your affection and for your many kindnesses to me. Msgr. Bob
Third Sunday in Easter
If you love scripture, chances are, in the mysterious ways in which the Spirit works, Sr. Macrina Scott, O.S.F. planted
the seeds that found a welcome home in your heart.
She entered Religious Life as cloistered Benedictine, where she studied the works of the great scholars writing at the
time of the Council. She went to God on Holy Thursday an active Franciscan, who took to heart the Council’s call to make the Word of God
alive and active in the hearts of the Catholic laity.
It doesn’t matter where you live. Her brilliant model, the Denver Catholic Biblical School, was adapted and re-worked to fit the needs of
Catholics around the world. Magazines reflecting on the daily scriptures began to thrive, and flourish today with large subscriber numbers,
in part because of the educated Catholic laity which she helped create.
From the start, publishers from around the country began begging her for more. I would have said, “I don’t have time.” She said, “I’ll write a
book.”
She wrote three. Her beautiful, funny, insightful treatments of the Old Testament, and the Gospel of Luke/Acts of the Apostles, remain the
gold standard for bible study groups. You can find them at Tau Publishing.
She went on to create a brilliant program―the Wisdom Center―that encouraged those in the second half of life to pay attention to the spiritual adventures of aging. Kathy McGovern ©2015 www.thestoryandyou.com

Using Our
Gifts
Many within northern Colorado
are experiencing physical,
emotional, and spiritual hungers. Recognizing this reality,
the archdiocese is committed to
help alleviate their needs
through a variety of ministries
which are funded through Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal proceeds. Your Appeal gift will not
only empower our wider
Church to help others, but will
also confirm your desire to become an authentic disciple of
Christ. Thank you for your
charity.
All that we are and all that we
have is a gift from God! Think
of your family, your friends,
your talents and abilities –
these are all gifts from God.
We aren’t really owners of anything, we are merely “stewards”
of the gifts God has blessed us
with.
Please consider sharing your
gifts with our parish by donating
your time.

La Devoción a la Divina Misericordia
Tener devoción a la Divina Misericordia
requiere de una total entrega a Dios como
Misericordia. Es una decisión que
