At some point we have to grow up spiritually. We have to let go of our lesser gods or goods for they
cannot be totally depended upon. We pour our energy and time and talent into causes, our jobs, our
families. Gradually in our maturing we learn that God alone does not disappoint our hearts. Our demands
on ourselves and others diminish.

meantime, we’ll say a prayer for you and welcome you back next Sunday.

CONFIRMATION
RESPECT LIFE
“Look to Him that you may be radiant with joy and your faces may not blush with shame.
When the afflicted man called out, the LORD heard, and from all his distress He saved
him.” PSALM 34
Taxpayer funding of contraception and abortions, euthanasia, same sex marriage
and the recent 10th Circuit Court of Appeals decision attempting to force the
Little Sisters of the Poor to comply with the government accommodation providing abortion and contraceptive services (despite the nuns belief that such actions
would violate their religious beliefs and cause them to be complicit in immoral
actions) are assaults that adversely threaten the religious freedoms of Catholics,
Protestants, Eastern Orthodox Christians, Jews, Muslims and all people of faith.
Bearing in mind the challenges today’s culture imposes on families, Archbishop
Charles Chaput reminds us of the words of our most recent Popes. Pope Benedict –the Church, though smaller, “…will enjoy a fresh blossoming and be seen
as man’s home…” St. John Paul II—“Be not afraid!” Pope Francis—implores
us to live “The Joy of the Gospel”. Our Archbishop points the direction to
choosing life is through the mission of the family. He has no doubt that, “Family
life, by its nature, is not comfortable—beautiful and rich, fulfilling, yes; but not
‘comfortable.’ …Family life has a flesh and blood intensity that asks us to give it
all we’ve got...and forces us to think about things that count: conjugal love, birth,
the raising of children, education, work, illness, the death of parents, our own
aging, and the mortality of the persons we love most intimately…the everyday
world we face in the coming decades will demand its own special brand of heroism…the habit of real Christian faith—in the school of the family.” Source: Our
Sunday Visitor, August 02, 2015/

Respect Life – During World Meeting of Families
Happening at St. Patrick’s – Thursday, September 24, 2015 We hope many of our parishioners will take advantage of this pro
-life activity happening at St. Patrick’s. - 8:00 AM – Mass at St.
Patrick Church. 8:45-9:00 AM – Procession to the Planned
Parenthood Abortion Clinic at Powell & Wood Streets. 9:0011:00 AM – Prayer (recitation of the Rosary) and peaceful, public
witness. 11:00 AM – Procession back to St. Patrick. If our parishioners are unable to participate in public witness at Planned

neighborhood.

SUMMER CHURCH SUPPORT
Every summer we experience a decline in attendance
at Sunday Mass as our regular parishioners leave the
city on weekends to enjoy the warm weather. However, our basic operation expenses remain constant
throughout the year. When you return in the fall, we
will still be here—the lights will be on, the airconditioning will be working. So, we ask you to continue supporting your parish even while you are physically
absent. You can do this by making up for the missing Sundays in one
cumulative offering. Thank you for your support throughout the year,
and enjoy the summer.
Will God Be a Part of Your Vacation?
The internet makes it so easy on vacation to find a church or
perhaps a shrine or basilica. There are 60 basilicas in the United States.
