THE GOOD SHEPHERD
This Fourth Sunday of Easter is traditionally referred to as "Good Shepherd Sunday."
Today we listen to the words of the Lord as he refers to himself as the "good shepherd
who lays down his life for the sheep." It is sometimes so difficult for us to grasp the reality that anyone would lay down his or her own life for the sake of someone else. This
is especially true in a society that places high value on power and personal advancement, often at the cost of "trampling" on other people in order to climb the ladder. Today's scriptures point to the one we are called to emulate--the one who lays down his life for his sheep. Today's scriptures challenge us to discover ways to bring life to those around us--to build up rather than to tear

Middle School EDGE Thank you
Thanks to all of you that donated jars of peanut butter and jelly, juices, granola bars,
fruit and bread so that our EDGE kids could make bagged lunches for those in need.
Because of your kind donations we were able to make over 100 sandwiches which
were donated to the Social Ministry Office in downtown San Jose. I personally delivered
the sandwiches which were immediately handed out as soon as I dropped them off, the
need is real. The purpose of having the youth do this activity was not just to do something good, but also to help them understand that while we need bread to physically
sustain ourselves, we also need the Eucharist as our spiritual nourishment! This very
small act of kindness and taking part in the Eucharist is something they can do every
day to sustain a healthy and holy lifestyle. Thanks for your continuous support of our
youth programs.
Liturgy Committee Thank You
With the help of many ministries our plans for the Easter season were executed beautifully. We want to thank those who
helped with the Stations of the Cross and the Eucharistic Ministers, Readers, Greeters, Music ministers and Ushers who
served on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Sunday. We especially want to
thank the Servidores who helped with ushering at the Easter Vigil and then stayed on to help clean the Church and
make it ready for Easter Sunday.

Minh Nguyen, has been arrested on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion. The Diocese has been cooperating with an ongoing criminal investigation by the Internal Revenue Service into the conduct of Monsignor

Hoy escuchamos las palabras del Señor cuando se llama a sí mismo "el buen pastor que da la
vida por sus ovejas." A veces es tan difícil para nosotros comprender la realidad de que alguien
esté dispuesto a dar su vida por alguien. Esto es muy cierto en una sociedad que pone tanto
énfasis en el poder y en el avance social, con frecuencia a expensas de "pisotear" a otra gente
para escalar a la cima. Las Escrituras de hoy nos muestran a quién debemos imitar -al que da
su vida por las ovejas. Las Escrituras de hoy nos retan a descubrir la manera de llevar vida a los

Gracias a todos ustedes que donaron frascos de mantequilla de maní y jalea, jugos,
barras de granola, fruta y pan para que nuestros niños de EDGE puedan hacer almuerzos en bolsas para los necesitados. Debido a sus donaciones pudimos hacer más de
100 sándwiches que fueron donados a la Oficina del Ministerio Social en el centro de
San José. Yo personalmente entregué los bocadillos que fueron repartidos de inmediato tan pronto como los dejé, la necesidad es severa. El propósito de tener hacer esta
actividad con los jóvenes no era sólo de hacer algo bueno, sino también para ayudarles
a entender que, si bien necesitamos el pan para sostenernos físicamente, pero también
necesitamos la Eucaristía como alimento espiritual! Este pequeño acto de bondad y la
participación en la Eucaristía es algo que pueden hacer todos los días para llevar una
vida sana y santa. Gracias por su apoyo continuo de nuestros programas juveniles.
