Born 1983, Saitama Prefecture. 2007 was a banner year for Ishii Yuya whose “Bare-Assed Japan” was entered in the Vancouver
International Film Festival’s Dragon & Tiger Young Cinema Award. His “Of Monster Mode”, also released in 2007, was an Asian
Digital Award nominee at the Hong Kong International Film Festival. Then at the Asian Film Awards, Ishii won the 1st Edward
Yan New Talent Award for Most Promising Director. His landmark work to date, “Sawako Decides”, took part in the 2010 Berlin
International Film Festival and the 34th Hong Kong International Film Festival, and earned Best Picture and Best Actress
awards at the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival as well as Best New Director and Best Actress awards at the Yokohama Film Festival, leading to Ishii becoming the youngest Blue Ribbon Award winner at the 53rd Japan Film Blue Ribbon Awards in 2011.
His 2013 film, “The Great Passage”, starring Matsuda Ryuhei and Miyazaki Aoi, was selected as Japanese representative in

Synopsis: Coming-of-age story based on the best -selling novel “Kamusari

Roman Empire bathhouse architect Lucius (Abe Hiroshi) for some reason

Synopsis: Sequel to the spectacle-laden comedy Thermae Romae, a

production shot on location in Bulgaria, and was realized on a grander
scale than the first film.

Synopsis: An emotional drama involving delicious desserts. A cake maker’s
