Born 1983, Saitama Prefecture. 2007 was a banner year for Ishii Yuya whose “Bare-Assed Japan” was entered in the Vancouver
International Film Festival’s Dragon & Tiger Young Cinema Award. His “Of Monster Mode”, also released in 2007, was an Asian
Digital Award nominee at the Hong Kong International Film Festival. Then at the Asian Film Awards, Ishii won the 1st Edward
Yan New Talent Award for Most Promising Director. His landmark work to date, “Sawako Decides”, took part in the 2010 Berlin
International Film Festival and the 34th Hong Kong International Film Festival, and earned Best Picture and Best Actress
awards at the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival as well as Best New Director and Best Actress awards at the Yokohama Film Festival, leading to Ishii becoming the youngest Blue Ribbon Award winner at the 53rd Japan Film Blue Ribbon Awards in 2011.
His 2013 film, “The Great Passage”, starring Matsuda Ryuhei and Miyazaki Aoi, was selected as Japanese representative in
Best Foreign Movie category of the 86th Academy Awards.

Synopsis: Coming-of-age story based on the best -selling novel “Kamusari

Humans are threatened with extinction due to mysterious “parasytes”
that live off human bodies. When the right hand of high school

City-bred Hirano Yuki (Sometani Shota) decides on a whim to take up

Roman Empire bathhouse architect Lucius (Abe Hiroshi) for some reason
travels in time to contemporary Japan whenever he’s stuck for new ideas.

Three years have passed since old pal Gyoten (Matsuda Ryohei) showed

of Tokyo. One day, Tada finds himself in a jam when Gyoten’s former wife
puts her young daughter in his care. Plus, the local gangster organization

Synopsis: Sequel to the spectacle-laden comedy Thermae Romae, a
live action adaptation of Yamazaki Mari’s popular comic. Depicts the
humor arising from the contrast in time and space between bathhouses
in ancient Rome and contemporary Japan. The film is the first Japanese
production shot on location in Bulgaria, and was realized on a grander
scale than the first film.

Synopsis: An emotional drama involving delicious desserts. A cake maker’s
daughter from Kagoshima travels to Tokyo to find her boyfriend and take him
back with her, but begins to look at herself in a new light when she meets a
