In the aspects of study, we challenge interesting projects positively and are also focused on industry-university cooperation in order to contribute to the community. Kurume city, surrounded by the Mino Mountains, and is located next to the Chikugo river. It is the main city of the Chikugo region which is located in the southern part of Fukuoka prefecture. Kurume city is also famous for being both a prosperous business and agricultural area. 久留米は、優れた経済・産業家を輩出しており、 江戸時代から明治にかけて活躍した田中久重氏 は「東洋のエジソン」として知られ、後に現在の 東芝を創業した。また、本学創立にかかわった石 橋正二郎氏はブリヂストン株式会社の創業者と しても知られている。 Kurume produces many brilliant entrepreneurs. For example, during the Edo and Meiji-periods, Hisashige Tanaka, known as the “eastern Edison”, established Toshiba, which is one of the most famous appliance companies in the world. In addition, Shojirou Ishibashi, the founding entrepreneur of Bridgestone, contributed to establish Kurume University. 留学生別科 Japanese Intensive Course (Ryugakusei Bekka) １．設置の趣旨 The purpose of this school 留学生別科は、久留米大学の学部または大学院 に入学を希望する外国人を対象に、本学における 講義を理解できる日本語能力を習得し、併せて日 本文化に関する基礎知識を得ることを目的とし ている。 The Japanese intensive program is for foreign students who aspire to enter a faculty or graduate school of Kurume University. It provides a high quality of academic skills that enable students to follow the regular courses of our university and learn about the basic knowledge of Japanese culture as well. ２．別科の概要 Basic information of the Program １）コース及び定員 The courses and capacity １年コース（４月・秋期開講） 15 名 12 month course (Both April and fall offered) 15 students １年半コース（４月・秋期開講）20 名 18 month course (Both April and fall offered) 20 students ２）出願資格 Application Requirements ① 外国籍を有しており、次のいずれかの条件を 満たすこと。 You have to possess a foreign nationality and meet at least one of these requirements before you apply for it. i. 外国において学校教育における 12 年の課程 （日本の学校教育の小学校６年、中学校３年、 高等学校３年）に相当する教育を修了もしく は修了見込みのこと。 i. You have to complete 12 years education program: 6 years of elementary school, 3 years of junior high school, and 3 years of high school in Japanese education, or be expected to graduate in a foreign country. ii. 本学により、前項の課程を修了した者と 同等以上の学力があると認められ、満 18 歳 に達していること。 ii. A student must possess at least the same level of academic skills as students who meet requirements (i). However, in this case, the student may not apply for any other universities. ２）入学金免除 Exemption of the entrance fee 別科を修了し、学部・大学院に進学した学生に は、入学金が半額 （学部 110,000 円、大学院 120,000 円）免除される。 別科入学時、Ｎ２以上のレベルであれば、半年 で学部もしくは大学院を受験可能。進学時には入 学金の半額免除。 Students who have completed the Japanese program and entered the undergraduate or graduate program are not obliged to pay the fee of 110,000 yen (for the undergraduates) or 120,000 yen (for the graduates). Also, there are other dormitories for male students. There are other activities besides regular courses. For example, speech contest, project work, visitor session that invites Japanese students to a class, and so on.
