学校行事を通して育む力
校長羽田野庸史
校庭の新緑が目にまぶしい季節になってきまし
た。新年度が始まって、早 10 日が経ちました。
（学
校便りを英訳する関係で原稿締切が 15 日のため、
まだ 10 日しか経っていません。）
最初の週は、子供達も緊張した面持ちで担任の先
生の話を聞いていました。それが２週目になると、
大分自分が出せるようになってきた子が増え、それ
がそれぞれのクラスの雰囲気を創り上げていって
います。今後、子供たちがそれぞれの学級でけじめ
をつけながらも、自分らしさを発揮して学校生活を
楽しんでほしいと願うばかりです。
さて、そんな学校生活の中、5 月は 30 日（土）に運動
会があります。今年度に入って最初の大きな学校行事で
す。文部科学省が告示した教育課程の基準である学習指
導要領には、「学校行事は、学校生活に秩序と変化を与
え、集団への所属感を高め、学校生活の充実と発展に資
する体験的な活動を行う。
」とあります。
したがって、運動会を通して、子供たちに普段の学習
ではなかなか感じることができない成就感や達成感を
味わわせてあげたいと考えます。さらに、その成就感や
達成感の質を高めるためには、子供たちがどのように準
備や練習に取り組んだかが重要になってきます。漠然と
ただ準備や練習を繰り返していても、思ったように力は
付いてきません。自分の力を見極め、その力に応じて、
具体的なめあてを立て、準備や練習に取り組む必要があ
ります。そのように具体的なめあてをもって、準備や練
習に取り組むことで、良い結果が生まれる可能性も高ま
ってきます。また、たとえ良い結果が伴わなくても具体
的なめあてをもって準備や練習に取り組んだことには、
大きな価値があります。運動会に向けても、子供たちが
主体的に取り組むことができるように、事前に自分なり
のめあてをもたせるとともに、結果以上にそこに至るま
での過程を大切に指導していきます。
そして、子供たちが運動会を通して、一回りも二回り
も大きく成長できるようにご家庭でのご支援もよろし
くお願いいたします。
【2 年の学級担任について】
4 月 15 日（水）の全体保護者会でお話させていただ
いたように、4 月 27 日（月）より 2 年 1 組・2 組で学
級担任とともに新たに山口眞由教諭（新規採用）がテ
ィーム・ティーチングで指導にあたっております。クラ
ブや委員会、ファミリー活動等では、他学年の児童の指
導にもあたります。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

区内の芝浦小から参りました。311 人の素直で明
るい子供たちと協力的な保護者の皆様、学校を温か
く見守ってくださる地域の方々、そして、一生懸命
な教職員とともに誰もが誇れる東町小を築いていき
たいと思います。

ご縁がありまして、また、東町小学校で勤務させ
ていただくことになりました。明るく元気な子供達
とまた出会えてうれしいです。
担任である５年生の子供達はもちろんのこと、全

寺本英子
葛飾区の小学校から転任して参りました。東町小
学校では、校内の様々な所で子供たちや先生方の英
語でのやりとりを耳にすることが多く、非常に驚い
ております。これから 1 年間、やる気あふれる 1 年
生に全力を注いでいく所存です。どうぞよろしくお

今関規子
昨年度まで、東町小学校で算数や国際の授業の補
助教諭をしていました。素直な東町の子供たちが大
好きで、今年も東町の子供たちと過ごせることを楽
しみにしています。今年度はつぼみ学級の先生とし
て頑張ります。

去年まで、港区の高輪台小学校で勤務していまし
た。東町小学校に来て、始めは分からないことが多
く不安なこともありましたが、１ヶ月が過ぎ学校に
も慣れてきました。これから東町小学校のために全
力を尽くしていきたいと思います。よろしくお願い
します。

明るくのびのびとした、パワーみなぎる子供たち
に会え、とてもうれしく思っています。子供たちの
良いところを伸ばせるよう力を尽くしていきます。

２年間、東町小学校で楽しくすごしてきました。
昨年度末で一度退職いたしました。
今年度より、算数の少人数としてお世話になるこ
とになりました。２年生から６年生まで、

はじめまして。私はアメリカ出身で、日本には３
年住んでいます。休日はバスケットボールを楽しん
だり、友人と楽器を演奏したり、日本語の勉強をし

明るく、元気な東町小学校の子供たちと勉強した
り、遊んだりすることを楽しみにしています。子供

The school yard is alight with the bright green
of a new spring. As I write this, ten days have
already passed since the new school year
began (the deadline for the newsletter to be
translated was the 15 th , so only 10 days have
passed).
In the first week, the new students listened to
their teachers with such nervous faces. Yet, by
the second week the number of students who
were able to express themselves increased,
and one by one they created a new classroom
atmosphere. From now, my only wish is that, as
they recognize the distinctions between
grades, they exhibit their individualities to us
and have fun at school.
On March 30th (Sat) we will have our Sports Day.
This is the first major event of the school year. In the
government-issued curriculum provided by the
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology, it is stated that school events are
conducted in order to promote personal
development and a sense of belonging via
practical experiences with teamwork, systems, and
modifications.
Therefore, via Sports Day, I hope the children will
experience a sense of achievement and fulfilment
outside of a normal classroom situation. Moreover,
children will learn what it takes, the practice and
preparation, to obtain that sense of achievement.
If we just make them vaguely repeat the same
routines over and over again, we cannot expect
them to realize their own strengths. It is necessary to
practice and prepare in accordance with one’s
own strengths together with realistic goals. With
those realistic goals in place, it is more likely that
the desired results will come to fruition. Still, there is
great value in carrying out preparation and
practice with a clear goal in mind, even if the
desired result does not come. Even as we move
towards Sports Day, we must make sure they carry
with them their own personal goals, and lead them
through the process of achieving those goals in
order for our students to become independent and
self-reliant.
Therefore, for the benefit of the children’s
effective development on Sports Day, we request
support and encouragement from home.

I have moved here from Shibaura Elementary School
in Minato Ward. To all 311 bright and honest students,
their respective families, all the warm souls who watch
over the neighborhood、and to all the hard working
staff at the school, it is my hope that together we can
build a Higashimachi that everyone will be proud of.

beginning this year. I would like to express my gratitude
for everyone’s assistance in watching over all our
students at Higashimachi. With the warm hearted
members of the PTA and the cooperative and powerful
members of the neighborhood I will work through all
channels to make Higashimachi better and better.

I have transferred from an elementary school in
Katsushika City. In and around Higashimachi
Elementary I have heard both students and teachers
chatting in English, and it has been the most pleasant
surprise. The first graders are all bubbling with
enthusiasm, and so it is my intention to spend the
coming year focusing that energy. Thank you for your

Last school year, I was working as an assistant
teacher in math and international studies. I adore the
honest students here at Higashimachi、and I am looking
forward to spending this year with them as well. I hope

Until March this year, I was working as a Native
Teacher at Takanawadai Elementary in Minato Ward.
Not knowing much about the school I felt uncertain
when I started at Higashimachi. In a mere month
though, working here already feels natural. I wish to use

I have had the pleasure of working at Higashimachi
Elementary for two years now. At the end of last year I
retired from my former position.
Beginning this year, it is my pleasure to teach the
small group math class. From 2nd to 6th grade, I hope I
