ロリー・キーティング英国図書館長
Mr. Roly Keating, Chief Executive of the British Library
2012 年 9 月から現職。電子納本の法制度化による大規模なデジタル資料収集の実現、英
国公貸権管理運用業務の英国図書館への移行等一連の主要事業を監督する。2023 年
の英国図書館創立 50 周年を記念するにあたり、達成すべき主要な目標を明確に打ち出
す新ビジョン“Living Knowledge”の策定を主導した。
英国図書館長就任以前は、英国放送協会(BBC)テレビチャンネルである BBC Four 責任
者、BBC Two 責任者、アーカイブ・コンテンツ部長を歴任し、BBC iPlayer 等のオンライン・
サービスを監修するなど BBC での長く輝かしい経歴を持つ。
現在、英国の公共図書館の組織と役割を検討するために設置された審議会による公共図
書館レポート（Independent Library Report for England）の実施を主導する、中央及び地
方政府が共同で立ち上げた図書館課題達成推進部会（Libraries Task and Finish Group）
のメンバーを務めている。
Roly Keating has been Chief Executive of the British Library since September 2012.
He has overseen a series of significant projects, including a historic move to large-scale digital collecting with the
implementation of the Non-Print Legal Deposit regulations and the incorporation into the Library of the Public Lending Right
service. The Library’s newspaper collection has been a significant area of focus, with the transfer of the collection from
Colindale to a new state-of the art storage facility at Boston Spa and the opening of The Newsroom, a new reading room
at St Pancras dedicated to news collections across all media formats. Roly has recently led the development of Living
Knowledge, a new vision for the British Library which maps out major developments leading up to the Library’s fiftieth
anniversary in 2023.
Roly joined the Library after a long and successful career at the BBC, where his roles included Controller of BBC Two,
Controller of BBC Four and Director of Archive Content, with editorial oversight of the BBC's online services including BBC
iPlayer.
Roly is a member of the Barbican Centre Board and a Trustee of Turner Contemporary in Margate. He is currently serving
as a member of the national Libraries Task and Finish Group, which will lead on the implementation of the Independent
Library Report for England.
田村俊作（たむらしゅんさく）慶應義塾大学名誉教授
Shunsaku Tamura, Professor Emeritus of Keio University
1984 年～1992 年慶應義塾大学文学部助教授を経て、1992 年～2015 年 3 月慶應義
塾大学文学部教授。また、1990 年～2002 年には国立国会図書館客員調査員、2009 年
よりビジネス支援図書館推進協議会理事を兼務。2009 年～2015 年 3 月慶應義塾大学メ
ディアセンター所長。2015 年 4 月より慶應義塾大学名誉教授。
主な編著書・共著に『情報探索と情報利用』（勁草書房、2001）、『文読む姿の西東－描か
れた読書と書物史』（慶應義塾大学出版会、2007）、『公共図書館の論点整理』（勁草書房、
2008）等がある。
Associate Professor (1984–1992) and Professor (1992–March 2015) of the Faculty
of Letters at Keio University, Visiting Researcher at the National Diet Library (1990–
2002), and member of the board of the Japan Business Library Association (2009–
present). After serving as Head of the Keio University Media Center from 2009 to
March 2015, he was named Professor Emeritus by Keio University in April 2015.
