The Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung (SGN), a member institution of the Leibniz
Association, with almost 800 employees and its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, is conducting
advanced natural history research with leading research institutions in six federal states. The
Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) is exploring in this context the
interactions between organismic biodiversity and climate.
The Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) invites applications for a
Two Senior Scientist Positions
“Interdisciplinary Biodiversity & Ecosystems Research”
Candidates are expected to conduct research that bridges between natural and social sciences
and addresses societal challenges. The candidates should foster collaboration between natural
scientists and social scientists at SGN, Goethe University and the Institute for Social-Ecological
Research (ISOE). Possible research fields include social-ecological systems, ecosystem services,
biodiversity conservation, ecological economics and related interdisciplinary research areas. You
will have the opportunity to develop your own research profile in cooperation with other working
groups in BiK-F and its partners.
Your profile:





PhD degree in a relevant field
strong international publication record
ability to generate third-party funding
research experience in interdisciplinary working environments
excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as networking skills
Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in Germany (TV-H E 13 – E 14). The
contract should start on August, 15th 2015 and will be initially restricted to 3+3 years, with an
option for an unlimited contract after that (tenure track). The Senckenberg Research Institute
