Liebe IFC-Mitglieder,
Der von der NATO Schule und der Gemeinde
Oberammergau gemeinsam geplante FrühlingsBall musste ja leider wegen mangelndem Interesse
abgesagt werden. Unsere Einladung zu einer
Wanderung durch das Murnauer Moos dagegen
stieß auf großes Interesse.
So traf sich am 19. April eine große Gruppe am
Bahnhof in Westried, um über den Holzsteg in das
Murnauer Moos zu spazieren. Unser Ziel war der
„Ähndl“ Biergarten am Ramsach Kirchl, wo Kees
einen großen Tisch für uns reserviert hatte. Dort
angekommen, freuten wir uns auf die verdiente
Stärkung. Da wurden wir jedoch etwas enttäuscht,
irgendwie war der Service wohl total überfordert
oder schlecht organisiert, jedenfalls mussten wir
über eine Stunde warten, ehe endlich die ersten
Getränke kamen. Unserer guten Stimmung tat das
jedoch kaum Abbruch und mit leichter Verspätung machten wir uns dann wieder auf den Rückweg, der uns
entlang des Höhenrückens wieder nach Westried führte, mit einigen tollen Ausblicken über das Moos und die
dahinter liegenden Berge.
Unser nächstes Vorhaben
City Tour nach Passau am Samstag, den 30. Mai
Bereits in unserem April Rundbrief hatten wir über unseren geplanten Ausflug bereits ausführlicher berichtet.
Unsere diesjährige City Tour wird uns also mit dem Bus in die Drei-Flüsse-Stadt Passau führen. Die einzigartige
Lage der Stadt am Zusammenfluss der drei Flüsse Donau, Inn und Ilz sowie die Schönheit der barocken Altstadt
werden uns bei einer Stadtführung näher gebracht.
Die Abfahrt des Busses ist um
07.00 Uhr am Ammergauer Haus und um
07.15 Uhr am Parkplatz Oberau
12.00 Uhr ist der Beginn der Stadtführung in Passau (Dauer ca. 1,5 Stunden)
Die Zeit nach der Stadtführung steht zur freien Verfügung, bis wir uns um 17.00 Uhr wieder zur Heimfahrt am Bus
treffen.
Die Kosten betragen nur 20 Euro für Mitglieder und 30 Euro für Nicht-Mitglieder und beinhalten Busfahrt sowie
Stadtführung.
Für unsere Planung ist eine verbindliche Anmeldung bis spätestens Donnerstag, den 14. Mai bei
Jo Müller (Tel.: 08822/923384) oder bei jedem Vorstands-Mitglied erforderlich.
Ausblick
Gemeinsames Abendessen und Bergfeuer im Raum Ehrwald/Lermoos (Österreich) am Samstag, den 20.
Juni
Am 20. Juni wollen wir uns im „Hubertushof“ in Lermoos zum Abendessen treffen, um anschließend die
beeindruckenden und einmaligen Bergfeuer an den Hängen rund um Lermoos und Ehrwald zu bewundern. Alle
Einzelheiten dazu in unserem nächsten Rundbrief

Das schreckliche Erdbeben in Nepal hat wohl jeden von uns berührt. Besonders betroffen gemacht hat es
Annette und Sebastian Demmel. Denn sie haben ein ganz besonderes Verhältnis zu diesem Land am Mt.
Everest, waren sie doch schon mehrfach zu Trekkingtouren dort. Dabei haben sie Freundschaft geschlossen mit
einem der Sherpas. Er und seine Familie haben das Erdbeben zwar überlebt, aber ihr Haus und ihr Hab und Gut
sind total zerstört worden.
Annette und Sebastian haben sich spontan entschlossen, dieser Familie mit Spenden zu helfen. Bei unserem
letzten Stammtisch kam dafür ein Betrag von 570 Euro zusammen.

Dear IFC Members,
The spring ball that was planned together with the
city of Oberammergau and the NATO School had to,
unfortunately be cancelled due to lack of interest.
Our invitation for a walk through the Murnau moors
on the other hand met with great interest.
So a large group met up on April 19 at the rail station
in Westried, in order to walk over the wooden
walkway in the Murnau moor. Our goal was the
„Ähndl“ beer garden at the Ramsach chapel where
Kees had reserved a large table for us. Having
arrived there we were looking forward to well-earned
refreshments. We were, however, a little
disappointed; somehow the service was probably
totally overwhelmed or disorganized, anyway, we
had to wait over an hour before finally the first drinks
arrived. Our good mood, however, hardly broke down and with a little delay we then started our way back, which
took us back along the ridge to Westried, with some great views over the moors and the mountains beyond.
Our next event
A city tour to Passau on Saturday, May 30
Already in our April newsletter we reported in detail about our planned trip.
Our city tour this year will take us by bus to the three-river city of Passau. The unique location of the city at the
junction of the three rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz and the beauty of the baroque old town will be brought closer to us
on a guided tour.
The bus departures are:
07:00 at Ammergauer House and at
07:15 at the Oberau car park
12.00 is the start of the city tour in Passau (lasts 1.5 hours)
After the city tour there is free time until we are to meet again at 17:00 at the bus for the return trip home.
The cost will be only 20 Euros for members and 30 Euros for non-members and includes the bus trip and the city
tour.
For planning purposes a firm reservation is required by Thursday, May 14 at the latest with Jo Müller (Tel.:
08822/923384) or with any board member.
A Look Ahead
A group dinner and mountain fires in the area of Ehrwald/Lermoos (Austria) on Saturday, June 20
On June 20 we want to meet for dinner at the „Hubertushof“ in Lermoos and then admire the impressive and
unique mountain fires on the slopes around Lermoos and Ehrwald. Full details in our next newsletter.

The terrible earthquake in Nepal has probably touched all of us. Annette and Sebastian Demmel were particularly
affected. They have a very special relationship with this country at Mt. Everest as they were several times for
trekking there already. They had made friends with one of the Sherpas. He and his family have indeed survived
the earthquake, but their house and all their possessions have been totally destroyed.
Annette and Sebastian have spontaneously decided to help this family with donations. At our last Stammtisch we
got together an amount of 570 euros.
