Liebe IFC-Mitglieder,
schon frühmorgens um 7.00 Uhr stiegen wir in den Bus,
denn drei Stunden mindestens mussten wir für die Fahrt
nach Passau einplanen. Aber die Fahrt wurde uns nicht
lang. Gleich nach München startete wieder der
exzellente „On-Board-Service“: Käse, Weintrauben,
Vinschgauer, selbstgebackene kanadische süße
Spezialitäten und dazu Prosecco waren ein perfektes
zweites Frühstück.
Mit einer sehr engagierten Stadtführerin erfuhren wir viel
über die Schönheiten und die Geschichte der barocken
Drei-Flüsse-Stadt. Dass der Zusammenfluss von drei
Flüssen aber auch sehr negative Seiten haben kann,
zeigten die vielen Hochwassermarken an den
Gebäuden.
Der weitere Nachmittag stand dann zur freien
Verfügung. Hier bot sich eine 45-minütige Bootsfahrt auf
Donau und Inn an, um den Reiz der Stadt aus einer ganz anderen Perspektive einzufangen.
Einen ganz besonderen Blick auf die Stadt konnte man von oben, von der Veste Oberhaus, auf die Stadt werfen.
Pünktlich um 17.00 Uhr trafen wir uns alle wieder am Bus, um die Heimfahrt anzutreten.
Unser nächstes Vorhaben
Wanderung, gemeinsames Abendessen und Bergfeuer im Raum Ehrwald/Lermoos (Österreich) am
Samstag, den 20. Juni
Am 20. Juni bieten wir zwei Unternehmungen an, die zusammen kombiniert werden können oder aber an denen
auch völlig unabhängig voneinander teilgenommen werden kann.
1.
Wanderung von der Ehrwalder Alm zum Seebensee
Kees und Karina Bakx bieten eine schöne und leichte Bergwanderung zum Seebensee an. Der romantische
Seebensee liegt oberhalb von Ehrwald, umgeben von den Bergen der Mieminger Kette.
Um 10.00 Uhr trifft man sich am Parkplatz der Ehrwalder Alm Bahn und wandert zunächst hinauf zur
Ehrwalder Alm. Wer das nicht möchte, kann auch mit der Seilbahn direkt zur Alm hochfahren.
Die Wanderung zum Seebensee startet dann um10.30 Uhr von der Ehrwalder Alm aus. Am See selbst gibt
es keine bewirtschaftete Hütte, kurz vor Erreichen des Sees liegt aber die Seebensee Hütte. Für ein Picknick
direkt am See sollte man sich daher eine Brotzeit von daheim mitnehmen.
Am Nachmittag geht es dann auf dem gleichen Weg wieder zurück zur Seilbahn und zum Parkplatz.

Wer jetzt noch zum gemeinsamen Abendessen und den Bergfeuern bleiben möchte, sollte es wie Kees und
Karina machen. Sie gehen nämlich anschließend ins Ehrwalder Hallenbad, erfrischen und entspannen sich
dort für den zweiten Teil des Tages.
2.
Gemeinsames Abendessen und Bergfeuer
Um 19.00 Uhr treffen wir uns im „Hubertus Hof“ in Lermoos (neben der Kirche am Kirchplatz) zum
gemeinsamen Abendessen, um anschließend die Bergfeuer rund um den Bergkessel von Lermoos und
Ehrwald zu bewundern. Die Feuer an den Berghängen sind ein einmaliges Ereignis und nur schwer zu
beschreiben, man muss sie einfach selbst gesehen und erlebt haben. Aus rund 10000 Feuerstellen
entstehen bis zu 200m hohe Feuermotive. Faszinierende Symbole wie z.B. Jesus-Bilder, Kreuze oder
Hirschköpfe mit gewaltigem Geweih leuchten von den Tiroler Bergen.

Da die Bergfeuer bei schlechtem Wetter um eine Woche verschoben werden, werden natürlich auch unsere
beiden Vorhaben entsprechend verschoben. Bei ungewisser Wetterlage Samstag morgens nochmals mit
Kees (Handy: 0172 8054079) oder Reiner (Handy: 0170 2361772)Kontakt aufnehmen.
2.
Nach Ehrwald und Lermoos kommt man von Oberammergau auf der B23 über Garmisch-Partenkirchen in
Richtung Reutte und in Österreich dann am Eisenbahn Viadukt nach rechts nach Lermoos oder morgens
nach links nach Ehrwald zur Ehrwalder Alm-Bahn.
Ausblick
Grillfest/BBQ beim Eisstock Club Unterammergau am Samstag, den 25. Juli
Bald ist es wieder soweit, unser beliebtes Grillfest steht für den 25. Juli auf dem Plan. Alle weiteren Einzelheiten
dazu stehen in unserem nächsten Rundbrief.

Dear IFC Members,
Already early in the morning at 7.00 am we were boarding the bus for the at least three hours planned journey to
Passau. But the trip did not seem long for us. Right after Munich again the excellent ‘on board service’ started:
cheese, grapes, ‘vinschgauer’ bread, homemade sweet Canadian specialties and Prosecco were a perfect second
breakfast.
With a very dedicated city tour guide we learned a lot about the beauty and the history of the baroque thee-river
city. The many flood marks on the buildings showed that the confluence of the three rivers could have as well a
very negative side.
The afternoon was more at leisure. A 45-minute boat ride was offered here on the Danube and Inn in order to
capture the charm of the city from a completely different perspective. One could, from above, cast a very special
view of the city from the Veste Oberhaus.
Promptly at 17.00 we all met back at the bus in order to begin the journey home.
Our next event
Hike, dinner together and mountain fires in the Ehrwald/Lermoos region (Austria) on Saturday, June 20.
On June 20 we are offering two activities that can be combined or can be completely taken up independently from
one another.
1. Hike from the Ehrwalder Alm to Seebensee
Kees and Karina Bakx are offering a beautiful and easy hike to the Seebensee. The romantic Seebensee is
above Ehrwald, surrounded by the mountains of the Mieminger chain.
At 10.00 you can meet in the parking lot of the Ehrwald Alm cable car and first hike up to the Ehrwald Alm.
Those who do not want to hike up can also go up direct to the Alm with the cable car.
The hike to Seebensee then starts out at 10.30 from the Ehrwald Alm. On the lake itself there is no hut with
food, but shortly before the lake there is the Seebensee hut. One should therefore bring a snack from home
for a picnic on the lake itself.
In the afternoon the path goes in the same direction back to the cable car and to the car park.

Those who want to stay for dinner and the mountain fires should do as Kees and Karina will do. That it, they
will then go to the Ehrwald indoor pool to refresh and relax there for the second part of the day.
2. Dinner and the mountain fires
At 19.00 we will meet in the ‘Hubertus Hof’ in Lermoos (next to the church on the church square) for a dinner
together, in order to admire the mountain fires afterwards around the mountain basin. The fires on the
mountain slopes are a unique event and difficult to describe; you just have to see and experience it for
yourself. Up to 200m high motives out of fire are created out of around 10,000 fires. Fascinating symbols
such as pictures of Jesus, crosses or deer heads with enormous antlers light up the Tyrolean mountains.

board member.
Two more notes:
1. As the mountain fires are postponed for a week in case of bad weather, naturally as well our two events will be
shifted accordingly. In uncertain weather conditions on the Saturday morning get in touch again with Kees
(Cell: 0172 8054079) or Reiner (Cell: 0170 2361772).
2. From Oberammergau you travel on the B23 to Ehrwald and Lermoos via Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the
direction of Reutte and in Austria then at the railway viaduct turn to the right to Lermoos or in the morning to
the left to Ehrwald to the Ehrwald Alm cable car.
