2015-2016 TUITION AND FINANCIAL AID
TUITION
Tuition for 2014-2015 is $10,350, book/technology fee is $500, and Registration/Course selection fee is $100.
The tuition rate and book fee for 2015-2016 will be determined in March by the Pius XI Board of Directors.

**Please Note**
 $500 tuition deposit (non-refundable) is due by June 1, 2015 to secure placement in selected
courses.
 Full tuition payment or enrollment in SMART TUITION payment plan with first payment must be received
prior to the start of school.
TUITION ASSISTANCE
FINANCIAL AID – Private School Aid Service (PSAS) and PIUS XI Scholarship applications are required for
financial aid consideration:
Need-Based Scholarships and Grants – based primarily on financial need as determined by applications
submitted to Private School Aid Service (PSAS).
 Donor - Designated Scholarships – Awards range from $500 to half-tuition scholarships. Donors
may designate specific criteria applicants must meet in order to qualify. Applicants must submit an
essay, report card and two letters of recommendation.
 Pius XI Family Grant Program – The primary source of tuition assistance for Pius XI families.
Awards range from $500 to $5,000. May be awarded in combination with other tuition assistance
programs.
ACADEMIC AWARDS – partial-tuition scholarships based on a student’s performance on one or more of
the following scholarship competitions:
 ACADEMIC EXCELLNCE AWARDS- 8th Grade Placement Test – November 7 & 8 2014
 Science Scholarship Competition – January 31, 2015
 Math Scholarship Competition – February 7, 2015
 Performing Arts Scholarship Competition – February 14, 2015
 English Scholarship Competition – February 21, 2015
 Visual Arts Scholarship Competition – February 25, 2015

Note: Pius XI does not award scholarships based on athletic ability or achievement. Any student receiving financial aid
will be expected to maintain a 2.0 average, excellent behavior and attendance. Students that have received
notification of financial aid awards but are later selected under the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program will no longer
be eligible for the Pius XI scholarships and grant funding.
TUITION DISCOUNTS – Available for qualified students whose financial aid applications are received by the
March 20th deadline:
 Student Summer Internship Program – A summer work program where students assist school staff
with a variety of light work projects. Students earn a credit towards their tuition.
 Archdiocesan Employee Tuition Reduction Program – Tuition discounts available to full and parttime employees of Catholic schools and parishes in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS – scholarships and grants administered by agencies not directly
affiliated with Pius XI High School:
 Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) – Full-tuition or Partial-tuition vouchers available to
eligible City of Milwaukee residents who meet financial eligibility requirements. Applications are
available at www.piusxi.org or in the Pius XI main office after January 27, 2015. Applications MUST
be submitted along with the supporting documentation to Pius XI High School during the open
enrollment period…February 1-20, 2015.
 Fr. Gene’s HELP Scholarship – Any student attending a private or parochial school may apply.
Awards are limited and based on financial need. Applications are available in the Pius XI business
office after January 1st.
 Catholic Family Life Insurance – For Catholic Family Life Insurance policyholders only. Policy
holders should contact their insurance agents for application information and deadlines.
 Knights of Columbus – Applications are available from local Knights of Columbus councils. Awards
based on financial need.
 Parish, Civic Organizations and Employer Scholarships – Several area parishes, Lions Clubs, Rotary
Clubs, Veterans organizations and employers offer partial-tuition scholarships to parish members,
community residents or employees. Contact the organizations directly for application information.
FINANCIAL AID TIMELINE
October 20, 2014 – FRESHMAN (and upper-class siblings if applicable)
Obtain financial aid/scholarship application packet. Packets are available at www.piusxi.org or for pick up in the
Pius XI main office. Please note: the financial aid/scholarship (PSAS) application packets are not the Milwaukee
Parental Choice Applications. You must pick up a separate MPCP application after January 27, 2015.
November 26, 2014 – Financial Aid Deadline
FRESHMAN (and upper-class siblings if applicable)
1. Complete the financial aid application and submit by mail or online to Private School Aid Service
(PSAS) along with a copy of your 2013 Federal income tax return and the required PSAS processing
fee of $27 for an online application and $30 for PDF or paper submission.
2. Complete the scholarship application and return it to the Pius XI business office along with the
student’s essay, report card and two letters of recommendation.
After January 16, 2015
Financial Aid Award notification letters will be mailed to students who applied by the November 26th
deadline.
March 20, 2015 – Financial Aid Deadline
All Students (Returning, Transfer and Late Freshmen Applications)

your 2014 Federal income tax return and the required PSAS processing fee of $27 for an online
application and $30 for PDF or paper submission.
2. Complete the Pius XI scholarship application and return it to the Pius XI business office along with
the student’s essay, report card and two letters of recommendation
