UCLA Electrical Engineering Video Competition – Open to everyone and with more than $3000 total award All the undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and interested parties are invited to submit their video entries to our EE video competition, which will award more than $3,000 to the winning teams: Diamond Prize: $1,500, Platinum Prize: $1,000 and Gold Prize: $750. A successful video must be “Fun” – broadly defined, and needs to target Freshman Students to stimulate their interest in and raise their curiosity about our EE department at UCLA. Each video entry will be strictly limited to 1 minute, and because of this time restriction no single video will be able to compressively cover all the aspects of our department. Having acknowledged this, there will be at least 3 winner videos, which can diversely focus on different themes to promote our EE department. What are the great inventions of EE? This could include perhaps three of the greatest contributions over all time, three recent contributions, and areas of current investigation. 2. What major products are a result of discoveries and developments in EE? What are the major positive social impacts that EE has accomplished. 3. What are challenges or concerns faced by current applications of that technology? What are the main areas of research at UCLA in EE? 4. What are the core subjects that you will learn in EE? Within the curriculum, what are some of the exciting hands-on design experiences offered by EE? 5. What are the career paths associated with EE? What are the major industries and who are the major companies within those industries? What are the companies in the LA area that students should know about? What are some companies that have recently provided internships for UCLA students in EE? 6. What are the student organizations associated with EE and what are these group's interesting projects and fun activities? 7. In your video show images of both women and men and the diversity of races and ethnicities so as to be welcoming to all students. Contest Rules: 1. Submission Deadline: 10/31/14 at 5:00 pm (PDT) 2. Videos may be submitted as individuals or teams (all individual names of team members must be listed at the time of submission) 4. Entrants may submit multiple videos 5. Video length – no more than 1 minute 6. Contest entrants grant UCLA, Electrical Engineering, a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed. UCLA, Electrical Engineering will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses. 7.
