FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST III/IV COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE SHERIFF‐CORONER Would you like to take your career in Forensic Pathology to the next level? The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is seeking a dynamic and accomplished FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST III/IV to join its Coroners Bureau! The Coroner Bureau operates out of two facilities in Southern California, in the cities of Perris and Indio servicing the County of Riverside with a population of over 2 million. In 2012 the Coroner Bureau, which includes four full time forensic pathologists and three part time forensic pathologists, performed approximately 1325 forensic autopsies in addition to external examination "consultations," with ancillary support provided by an on‐site anthropologist, contract odontologist and contract neuropathologist. The selected candidate, under general direction, performs autopsies and other professional work in forensic pathology to determine the cause and time of death; testifies in court, and performs other work as required. This specialized classification is allocated to the Coroner's Office of the Sheriff's Department and reports to the Chief Forensic Pathologist. The Forensic Pathologist III classification is an underfill for the Forensic Pathologist IV classification. An incumbent at the III level has the necessary experience to provide the full range of forensic pathology duties; however, a III level incumbent is Board eligible for certification, whereas the IV level possesses Board Certification in Forensic Pathology. A Forensic Pathologist III incumbent is promoted to a Forensic Pathologist IV when proof of Board Certification as a Forensic Pathologist is provided to the Department. Please visit www.rc‐hr.com to view the complete job bulletin and qualification requirements To be considered for employment, the applicant must possess the following qualifications: valid Physician's and Surgeon's Certificate issued by the State of California; certification in forensic pathology with the American board of Pathology, and must have successfully completed a forensic pathology fellowship program. The main office in Perris is located 60 miles east of Los Angeles, 45 miles northeast of the beach cities of neighboring Orange County, and 90 miles north of San Diego. The western end of Riverside County is home to the city and county seat of Riverside and to Temecula Valley wineries, festivals and the Pechanga casino. The Desert Forensic Center in Indio serves the eastern portion of Riverside County, covering approximately 30% of the forensic death investigations in Riverside County.
