Affordable Aerial Surveillance and Investigations with
Drones
Jake Lahmann, an expert in covert surveillance and technical investigations, will discuss how unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) drones
can be used in agricultural criminal and civil investigations. New
technology makes drones an affordable option to efficiently surveil
wide areas for livestock missing after a natural disaster, fire or flood;
search for stolen livestock; or check livestock from above for brand or
animal health violations.
USDA GIPSA Animal Disease Traceability
Neil Hammerschmidt, Animal Disease Traceability program manager
for USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service Veterinary Services,
will provide an update on the U.S. animal disease traceability laws,
current policy and new enforcement regulations.
Covert GPS Tracking of Livestock
Presenter TBD — Although the use of GPS technology to track target
livestock is still in the developmental stages, this cutting-edge technology is emerging as a powerful investigative tool for law enforcement.
“The Judges” Tom Watkins & Scott James
In our time-honored tradition at WSLIA, Tom Watkins and Scott James
will present updates on legal matters regarding our investigative
needs. Topics include search, seizure, warrants and liabilities facing
livestock investigators and inspectors. These attorneys are informative
