WEEK OF PRAYER

‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord
your God will be with you wherever you go.’
~ Joshua 1:9

Welcome to Guiseley Baptist Church!
It’s great to have you with us this morning at our covenant service!
If you are visiting us, we want to give you a warm welcome and trust
you will feel at home with us ~ please help yourself to one of our
welcome leaflets, which can be found in the foyer, if you’d like more
information about who we are and what we do.
Today, our Senior Minister Rev Micky Munroe is preaching and he
begins a new series of messages - The Adventure of Faith - on the
Old Testament book of Joshua and communion will follow at the end
of each service - there are gluten free wafers available on the plates.
Please stay for a cup of tea or coffee at the end.
2015 - NEW BEGINNINGS!
There are a number of exciting mission and ministry opportunities for
GBC at the beginning of the year. Please make a note of dates.
Week of Prayer at GBC ~ w/c 4th January 2015
Today is the beginning of a week dedicated to prayer. Together we
seek God’s will and blessing for the year ahead. Hopefully you have
received one of the information cards, outlining the different times
through the week given over to prayer; if not the cards are available
in the foyer. More information is given on the reverse of the news
sheet or speak to Kenny Brown or Micky.
CAP Job Club @ GBC will be launched on the morning of Tuesday
20th January. This is an exciting new opportunity for GBC to partner
with Christians Against Poverty in serving our community and
making a real and lasting difference in the lives of those seeking
employment. Please pray for this date. For more information please
speak to Allan Stewart.
Alpha @ GBC ~ We will be running an Alpha course starting on
Tues 20th Jan, 7pm. Please help yourself to an invitation in the foyer
and prayerfully consider if this is for you or who you could invite
~ people have signed up already! Help needed ~ We are looking
for people to prepare a dish to be served as part of the meal at the
beginning ~ if that is something you could help with, please sign up
in the foyer or speak to Micky
Thinking about baptism? Don’t forget to speak to Micky, Ann or
Ben soon if you are thinking about baptism. Coming along to the
sessions doesn’t commit you to getting baptised!
Men’s Prayer Breakfast dates for 2015
31st Jan; 28th Feb, 28th March, 25th Apr, 30th May, 27th June,
26th Sept, 31st Oct, 28th Nov. These dates are all Saturdays.
We meet at 8 for 8.15am. As always, no need to book, just turn up!
Thank you for supporting the Giant Christmas card and Christmas
Day offering. The Christmas Day offering amounted to £400, which
will be split between BMS World Mission & YBA Home Mission and
an additional £118.25 was sent to Home Mission from the Giant
Christmas card. Thanks to all who gave so generously.
Deacon’s elections - nomination forms are in the foyer for our
forthcoming deacon elections, which will be held at the AGM on
Wednesday 4th Feb, 8pm. There are three vacancies and an
existing deacon who is up for election - Paul Cayton is happy to
stand again.
Nominations can be made by completing a
nomination form and returning it to Joy Liles by Sunday, 18th
January. If you are thinking of standing, it would be good for you to
speak to Micky or Ann, as well as talking to existing deacons to find
out a bit more about what it entails. Deacons Andy Thomson and
David Skeet are standing down and we are grateful to God for their
service to the kingdom and church.
