ICD-10-PCS Procedure Coding Fundamentals
Take the essential first steps for a
knowledgeable transition from procedure
coding with ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-PCS.
With the adoption of the International Classification
of Diseases Tenth Revision Procedure Coding System
(ICD-10-PCS), and the approaching implementation
date, there are major implications for every aspect of
the health care industry, including the education of
future health information management workforce;
along with system-wide change, code transition, the
education and training of coding staff and the
confidence to tackle the new system.
This one-day program will provide an entry level
overview of ICD-10-PCS procedure coding
fundamentals. Included will be the differences and
basic changes between ICD-9-CM procedure codes
(Volume 3) and ICD-10-PCS, as well as the purpose,
use, and benefits of transitioning to ICD-10-PCS. The
new structure and format for inpatient procedural
coding using ICD-10-PCS Coding Conventions, Official
Coding Guidelines and alphabetic index and tables
will be examined. The basics of ICD-10-PCS will be
explored by discussing root operations and their
definitions, the body part key, approaches, devices,
and qualifiers.
