FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Thank you to everyone in the school community for a wonderful year.
Many things have happened this year that confirm what a wonderful
school community we have. This comes about because everyone gets
involved when they are required to resulting in excellent results.
I would firstly like to thank the staff at Kinross Primary School. Their
commitment to ensuring all children who attend Kinross Primary
School are given the best possible education is a credit to themselves
and the professional approach they take to all aspects of your
children’s education. Every staff member does their bit to work
collaboratively with other staff members to ensure your children are
provided for, physically, socially, emotionally and academically in a
clean and safe environment.
UPCOMING EVENTS…
18 December 2014—Final
Assembly
18 December 2014—Last day of
term
The Kinross Primary School P&C has worked tirelessly this year which has culminated in the Year 1 and 2
play area being covered. This has been the main aim for this year and the P&C have delivered through
the efforts of the P&C Executive, committees and the general school population who have supported
every fundraising event. Continued support of the P&C will ensure other projects are completed and the
Uniform Shop and Canteen can continue to provide for your children.
The School Board has continued to become better informed and involved in the operational matters of
the school. Their support has been much appreciated. The School Board will have a major part to play in
the 3 year review of the school as part of the Independent Public School process next year.
Finally I would like to thank the whole school community. Your support of the school this year has
enabled us to progress many initiatives and maintain a high level of education for all the students. The
students themselves have been a credit to the school throughout the year at the many excursions we
have had.
Congratulations to everyone and I look forward to working with you all again in 2014 when we welcome
the Year 6 cohort back to Kinross Primary School.

KINROSS PRIMARY SCHOOL
Music Performance
The Music performance last Friday was a
tremendous treat for the students, staff and
parents who attended. The talent on show,
the dedication to learn all the necessary lines,
the willingness to perform in front of a large
audience and the obvious enjoyment gained
form performing is a credit to the students
involved.
YEAR 1 XMAS
PARTY
A huge thank you to Mrs Gazzard and the students for a truly memorable
performance. It really was a showcase moment for Kinross Primary
School.
Reports
End of year summative reports were sent home on Monday. These
reports reflect how your child/ren have achieved this year and also
demonstrate progress made. Please share these reports with your
children, highlighting the positive aspects of the reports and providing
encouragement to continue to improve into 2015.
Composite Classes
Due to the number of students in each year level we have had to
organise a number of composite classes for 2015. A great deal of time
and effort has gone into organising these classes, both from a teaching
perspective and a student perspective. The senior leadership team took
a great deal of time to determine who they considered were the most
appropriate teachers for these classes and the teachers of your children
this year considered the needs of all children before placing them into
classes.
I can assure parents that children who are in composite classes will not
be adversely affected by these placements. All classes within the school
have children of a range of abilities in them and this is no different for
the composite classes. The school has had composite classes for a
number of years and these have always run effectively and efficiently
with the needs of all students being catered for in meaningful and
academically appropriate ways.
Picnic/Carols Night
Congratulations to everyone for a fantastic Picnic/Carols Night last night.
People began arriving at around 5.15 p.m. for the picnic tea and there
was a wide range of food brought in by families. The social atmosphere
made for a relaxed evening with many people taking the opportunity to
talk with others.
GROWING TOGETHER
This was followed by a wonderful rendition of carols led
by the school choir under the direction of Mrs Gazzard.
After some reluctance the audience began to join in a sing
along with the choir as the evening progressed. There
were many old favourites, some modified for Australian
audiences, and more modern carols were interspersed
with the traditional ones. Mrs Demiris managed to
maintain order during the evening in her role as master of
ceremonies.
YEAR 2 HAVING
LOTS OF FUN WITH
SECRET SANTA
We were very fortunate that Santa arrived towards the end of the
carols. After ensuring that the children from Kinross fitted into the
‘NICE’ category he spent time talking to the children and then they
were treated to lollies that were delivered by his helpers.
I have received very positive feedback, both last night and this
morning and this may become a regular item on the school’s
calendar due to the strong support from the whole Kinross school
community. Thank you all for attending and may this lead into a
wonderful festive season for all of you.
CHAPLAIN’S CORNER
Hi everyone!
Staff Changes for 2015
Staff changes have been kept to a minimum for 2015. However,
there are a few changes that I would like you to be aware of as
follows:

Mrs Melanie Gallagher will be leaving to return to New South
Wales to be nearer her extended family. I am sure you join me
in wishing her all the best and thanking her for her huge
contributions to Kinross Primary School in her time here.

Mrs Yvette Gray is also leaving us at the end of this year after
spending time with us as an Education Assistant (Special
Needs). Yvette has played an enormous role in the school and
we all hope she is successful in picking up a position
elsewhere.



Yes, it's hard to believe it's that
time of year again already. I can't
believe how quickly 2014 has
flown by! It's been an absolute
privilege to work alongside
students, staff and parents again
this year - thank you for letting me
part of your school community! At
our previous assembly, we gave
out the final Golden Key Awards
for this year. Here are our well
deserving recipients:

PP
(PP2) - Vernice Soon
Year 1 (TA4) - Lexie Mullaly
Year 2 (TA8) - Nicole Da Silva
Mrs Samantha Waugh is returning to the school after spending
the last two years in Melbourne. She will be in TA4 next year.

the Visual Arts position so will join our school in a substantive
capacity for 2015. Her expertise and experience will
undoubtedly enhance the Visual Arts program in the school.

Mrs Emma Brierley has also won a position in the school for
next year. She will work in collaboration with Mrs Sue Gazzard
in the Music area of the school in a four day a week position.
