Abdulaziz and Rashdan race to victory
SIX different drivers won the six races
held in the third round of the 2014-2015
Bahrain Karting Sprints Championship
(BKSC)-Rotax Mojo Max Challenge
(BRMMC) held at Bahrain International
Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
It was held simultaneously with the fifth
round of Sodi Sprint World Series (SSWS).
The BRMMC and SSWS make up the
BKSC. The BRMMC features racing between some of Bahrain’s most talented Rotax kart owners while the SSWS is an arrive-and-drive category where participants
battle each other in identical Sodi karts.
Mohammed Abdulaziz, Najashi Rashdan, Hussain Hasan and Zaid Audih were
triumphant in their respective categories in
BRMMC.
Khalid Alsaei and Mohamed Faqihi followed suit as the two winners from SSWS.
Abdulaziz and Rashdan were winners in
the BRMMC’s Max category.
Abdulaziz triumphed in Race One after
completing the 11-lap sprint in 10mins
33.593secs. Rashdan was runner-up,
2.373secs behind, while Abdulla Beshara
was third, finishing 7.412secs back.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al
Khalifa were fourth and fifth, respectively.
In Race Two, it was Rashdan who
was first to the chequered flag in 10mins
31.491secs. Shaikh Mohammed was a
close runner-up with just a 1.124secs gap,
while Abdulaziz claimed his second podium. Abdulla Beshara and Shaikh Ali completed the top five.
In the Junior Max class, Hasan won Race
One in 10mins 59.496secs. Talal Beshara
was second, 5.807secs behind, while Abdulla Ayman finished third, 14.402secs
adrift. Audih was fourth and Talal Ayman
not classified.
In Race Two, Audih triumphed in 11mins
01.841secs. Hasan was a narrow runner-up,
0.317s back, while Talal Beshara finished
third, 4.040secs from first place. Abdulla
Ayman was fourth while Talal Ayman was
not classified.
Both SSWS races also produced plenty of excitement
among 14 racers.
Alsaei won the first race in
13mins 18.777secs. Faqihi was
second, 0.145secs back, while
Ali Abdulla was third, finishing 0.414secs behind the victor.
Abdulla Buhindi, Abdulla Al
Thawadi and Osama Al Buflasawa completed the top six.
In Race Two, Faqihi was triumphant in 13mins 23.421secs.
Abdulla was second, 0.680secs
behind, and Khalied Alsaei
third, 0.746secs back. Tom Cohen, Al Thawadi, Buhindi completed the top six.
The winners were presented
their trophies by BIC, BIKC
and BMF officials.
Three more nights of BKSC
action are scheduled to take
place for the remainder of the
season, with each round featuring both the BRMMC and the
SSWS. They are slated to be
held on January 24, February
21 and March 28 at BIKC.

BAHRAIN national foot-
ball team intensified their
training yesterday in Kuala Lumpur ahead of the
Asian Cup to be held in
Australia from January 9 to 31.
Physical fitness trainer Brazilian Jose
Carlos led the team’s morning practice
yesterday. The team of 23 members were
divided into two groups under the supervision of national coach Marjan Eid.
Carlos concentrated on raising the fitness levels of the players in the morning
while the evening session was devoted
to fine tuning the game.
Players concentrated on passing and
counter attacking tactics before playing
a friendly match among themselves.
The team is accompanied by assistant
coach Isa Al Sadoon, goalkeeping coach
Abdulla Belal and ‘dart fish’ analyst Ali
Abdulmajeed.
Meanwhile, midfielder Sayed Deya
Saeed was unable to take part in training
due to sickness. He is expected to rejoin
today.
Another midfielder Abdulla Abdo and
Mohammed Daej trained separately at
the hotel’s gym as both are recovering
from recent injuries.
Professionals
Eid has included all three professional players - Fawzi Ayesh, Abdulla Omar
and Jessi John - in the squad which was
cut from 27 to 23 before leaving for Malaysia.
The trio were not selected by previous
coach Adnan Hamad of Iraq for the 22nd
Gulf Cup held in Riyadh in October.
Bahrain failed to qualify for the
knock-out stage and coach Hamad was
sacked.
Bahrain will train in Kuala Lumpur
till Saturday before leaving for Balart
City in Australia for another training
camp to run till January 8.
Bahrain will play three friendly
matches during the two camps, one
against a Malaysian club in Kuala Lumpur and against Jordan and Saudi Arabia
in Australia.

at the horse racing tomorrow.
True Event, owned by Mohammed A
Rahman Al Jasmi, trained by Fawzi Nass
and to be ridden by Mercialis Jaures, is
expected to beat his closest rivals Mayo
Lad and Peak Royale in this race for imported horses which carries a cash prize
of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,600 metres, starting at 4.30pm.
Kuheilan Al Adiyat 1587, owned by
Safra, trained by Alan Smith and to be
ridden by Brett Doyle, is the favourite
to win the Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al
Khalifa Cup for Arabian horses which
carries a cash prize of BD2,000 and to
be run over 1,600 metres, starting at
3.15pm.
Al Hamdanieh 1453 and Al Saqlawy
1578 are the second and third favourites
respectively.

Committee of Rashid Equestrian and
Horse Racing Club Ebrahim Al Afoo and
Mohammed Qassim, club’s public relations director Hamad Rashid Al Noaimi,
Bapco general manager, maintenance,
Khalid Al Sabbagh and other officials.
Al Sabbagh expressed Bapco’s eagerness to support horse racing in Bahrain
in line with efforts made by the chairman
of the High Committee of Rashid Eques-
trian and Horse Racing Club Abdulla
bin Isa Al Khalifa and vice-chairman Isa
bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

was also present at the Press conference.

Brett Doyle, looks in best shape to win
the Bapco Cup for locally bred horses
which carries a cash prize of BD1,500
and to be run over 1,800 metres, staring
at 4.05pm.
Harash and Zayyir are the second and
third favourites respectively.
Sword of Light, owned by Hadi Ebrahim Al Afoo, trained by Mohammed
Hassan and to be ridden by Hassan Al
Saffar, is the favourite to win the Bapco
Cup for imported horses which carries
a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run
over 1,200 metres straight, starting at
2.25pm.
Tango Cash and Goodwood Storm are
the second and third favourites.
Runway Charlie, owned by H and R
Stables, trained by Alan Smith and to be
ridden by Brett Doyle, is tipped to win
the Bapco Cup for locally bred horses
which carries a cash prize of BD1,500
and to be run over 1,200 metres straight,
starting at 2pm.
Ghazaliya and Basmaan are the second and third favourites respectively.
There are two support as well on the
cards.
BAHRAIN Royal Equestrian
and Endurance Federation
(BREEF) will be organising
the National Day Showjumping
Championship on Saturday.
It will be held under the
patronage of the Breef president
Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al
Khalifa at the Military Sports
Federation ground in Al Raffah,
starting at 8.30am.

BAHRAIN Motors Federation
(BMF) is set to organise
Bahrain Auto Cross tomorrow
near Information Authority
Affairs in Isa Town, from 3pm
to 8pm.
Top drivers are expected
to take part in this event,
including Saudi Arabia’s Saeed
Al Moori along with Bahrainis
Salah Salah El Deen and
Salman Abdulla.
Competition will be held in 11
categories.
Cash prizes will be awarded to
the top three of each category.
n Al Najma beat Sitra
AL Najma defeated Sitra 76-65
in the latest round of Bahrain
Zain Basketball League last
night at Bahrain Basketball
Association Sports Hall in Um
Al Hassam.
The quarter scores: 13-11 (Al
Najma), 27-12 (Al Najma), 2421 (Sitra), 18-15 (Sitra).
This was the second victory
for Al Najma in three games
while for Sitra it was their third
straight defeat.
In today’s matches, Al Ahli take
on Bahrain Club at 6pm at the
same venue. Nuwaidrat clash
with Samheej in the second at
7.30pm.
