Air India Engg Services Ltd (AIESL) is subsidiary of Air India Ltd which is a Public Sector
Company wholly owned by Govt. of India, it now invites sealed Expression of Interest (EOD
in response to enclosed Document to develop a Joint Venture with potential OEMs/ MROs/
Vendors having capability to overhaul Airbus and Boeing Landing Gears and are interested
in setting up the new state of art facility in India at Nagpur. Presently there is no MRO
facility for Landing Gears in India, whereas there are about 400 aircraft of different models
of Airbus and Boeing family . This provides an enormous prospective business potential in
Landing Gear MRO.

AIESL proposes to set up a Joint Venture Landing Gear MRO on TURNKEY basis
with potential OEMs / MROs / Vendors having capability to overhaul Airbus and
Boeing Landing Gears and are interested in setting up the new state of the art facility
at Nagpur Special Export Promotion Zone (SEZ).
o
AIESL seeks financial investment and technical expertise from prospective JV
partner towards setting up this facility.
o

The proposed workshop facility shall have various sections, facilities, equipment etc.
required for overhauling aircraft landing gears. The facility shall be of international
class with best standards followed in the developed countries and having approvals
from FAA, CAA, EASA and other regulatory aviation authorities
AIESL has the following to offer:
Sufficient Land Site a[ Nagpur, where AIESL is already having a MRO facility for
Air Frame with Boeing and JV with GE for Engine MRO. (There is an internal
connectivity from the Nagpur Airport to this MRO facility).
AIESL currently have the DGCA approved facility in Mumbai to overhaul Landing
Gears fitted on 747 and737 Main and Nose Landing Gear .
In view of point 2, Technical Expertise / Qualified / Trained manpower is available
with AIESL.

Processing of necessary approvals (DGCA/EASA)
Local recruitment of manpower

coordination with respect to local rules and regulations in
processin g necessary non-technical approvals.
Assistance
Services provided at the proposed MRO (Nagpur) are exempted from Service Tax
and VAT paid can be claimed back as refund.
4,uturq Busingss, Prospects
Air India can offer its own 17 ship sets of 737 NG , 13 ship sets of 777 and 43 ship sets
of Airbus A32Q family for Overhaul to the proposed OH Facility as they are falling due
for overhaul from 2017 onwards. Currently AIESL is in the process of overhaulingT3T
N LGs. As and when the facility is ready, AIESL may offer the remaining ship sets of
landing gears.
In addition to above, there are other Indian Airline Operators having combined fleet
strength of about 400 aircraft which currently are overhauling there Landing Gears from
Foreign Sources but can be cultivated into JV customers due to Regional proximity ,
Lower pricing based on Indian Labour rates and Shorter Lead times

The prospective JV partner should currently have the capability to overhaul Airbus
and Boeing Landing Gears and should have been in Landing Gear overhaul business
for last 5 years and having all requisite experience'
Average annual financial turnover of the prospective JV partner during the last four
years should not be less than USD100 million'
The JV partner should submit documentary approvals/ evidence while claiming the
experience.
