NEWSLETTER NO. 57 30 students completed Brewing Summer Course Why not spend your summer learning about beer? 30 students decided to follow this course, where they were introduced to the brewing process from raw materials, through brewhouse, fermentation, maturation and filtration. They learned about beer and health, brewing as a profession moving from craft to industry, the role of beer in society and how to launch your own business. They received lectures in beer types, beer matching food and at the same time earned 7.5 ECTS. The students went through an intense course including two hours written exam, some pre - studies and a report to be handed in 4 weeks after the course. Allan Poulsen, Diploma Master Brewer 2013, has accepted the task as censor on The Diploma Craft Brewer programme. Executive Course - Extra 24 November 2014 We have just completed our Executive Course 2014,but we plan one more course November 2014. The course is short and intense. You will be prepared for management of Diploma Master Brewers and able to challenge them- Please contact us for further information The current course finishes November 2014. Allan is the Brewmaster at Ørbæk Brewery, Funen, Denmark. 2½ intense days about Hops in Hallertau / Bavaria Diploma Master Brewer class 2014/2015 - Last chance to sign up 17th OCT 2014 28 Sept -1 Oct SSB went to Bavaria to experience the hops harvest in the Hallertau region. During the course we visited the Hops Museum in Wolnzach, experienced the Hops harvest on a Hops farm. We were introduced to new Hops varieties and latest trends in new type Hops. We also visited a pelletising and – extraction plant and The Hops Research Institute in Hüll . The hops harvest 2014 Hops evaluation Hops breeding in Hüll In Hallertau region the hops harvest 2014 ended ca. 20th September after a warm summer season.
