SOLUTIONS
To deliver this project successfully, Gowan built its schedule around the delivery dates
of the cooling tower components, and erection of “gantry” and derrick cranes on the
roof of a 43-story tower, the centerpiece of AIG’s Houston campus. After demolishing
and removing one of the previous cells, the company assembled and installed a new
one. Once it had been commissioned and was operating properly, Gowan repeated the
process sequentially for each of the remaining cells until all of them had been removed
and replaced by newer units. These units will also permit future expansion. All of the
work was completed without disrupting building operations.
