COMMUNITY
DESIGN
LANTRIP BLOOMS | Get Outdoors Project [Goujon Designs]
HOU.TX | 08.13 - 02.14
Received a $20,000 grant from Keep America Beautiful and the Lowe’s Foundation to design and
build an outdoor learning center on the campus of Lantrip Elementary in Houston’s East End
neighborhood. The design consists of 20 handicap accessible raised-garden beds, a greenhouse
renovation, outdoor education stage, and 1/4 mile running trail. All the work was performed by
volunteers in the Lantrip community and has been recognized by Mayor Annise Parker as an exemplary neighborhood rehabilitation project.
KUHLMAN GULLY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT | Eco-Park [with Asakura Robinson]
HOU.TX | 08.13 - 12.13
Selected to be the lead designer on a proposal for the development along the Kulhman Gully in
Houston’s Third Ward. I was selected, along with one other University of Houston student, to propose a master plan development that would create a mixed-use development that addresses the
issue of flooding along the Kuhlman Gully while providing a park that would serve as a neighborhood attraction. The project was received by the Southeast Houston Transformation Alliance and
Houston City Council member Wanda Adams.
ALIEF NATURE CENTER & PAVILION | Graduate Design/Build
As part of the Level I Graduate studio, we worked with SPARK School Park Program to design, fabricate, and build an outdoor classroom pavilion and community garden center in Alief neighborhood of Houston, TX. As the only student with a construction background, my duties were project
coordination, vendor and fabricator relations, on site surveying, and construction administration.
The design, which was a collaborative process, incorporated natural ventilation, water capturing,
and sustainable materials with the goal of acting as a model for sustainable design.
