Leaders with vision solve problems.
We know that there is a substantial voter registration gap between Republicans and Democrats in Clark County.
That is the result of a greater problem.
The greater problem with the Clark County Republican party is that we have allowed ourselves to simply complain
about losing elections and blame our elected officials for our failure as a party.
The solution is to roll up our sleeves as a party and do the work necessary to win elections by working with our elected
officials to grow our party.
Ask yourself these two questions:
1-What is your precinct number?
2-Are you a precinct captain?
If you are not able to answer these questions, contact Melody Howard. Melody is our Precinct Director for the county
party. She can be reached at [email protected]
Once you are able to answer these questions, you are ready to begin to grow the party.
The CCRP is working under the RNC Victory 365 program to grow our base.
The CCRP is going back to the three basic steps to win elections:
1-Identify the voters
2-Register the voters
3-Get the voters to the polls
These are the steps to grow the Republican base.
If you want to win elections, then become a precinct captain.
I am the precinct captain for precinct 1612 and I have a goal to register 33 people in my precinct.
When you see me, ask me why I chose 33 as my target number.
Talk is cheap. Action delivers the results needed to turn our government around.
Results take time. Steady and consistent focus on our objectives will deliver positive results.
Let’s get to work!

Summer Reading
As adults we often love an easy “beach” read during the summer months. When the weather gets hot something
entertaining to read makes the lazy days of summer just a little bit better and more relaxing. The same goes for
students during the summer. It has been found that just about any type of reading will pay off during the
summer when school is on break. A certain percentage of children are reluctant readers. Picking up a book to
read during the summer school break is a challenge. For these kids summer reading really needs to be fun
without too much juedgement from adults. A fun series of mystery books, or non fiction books on a passionate
interest such as skate boarding, hot rods, or sharks is just fine.
Going to a museum and reading the signs in front of displays, or graphic novels presents some fun reading. A
1996 analysis by Kelly Charton, James Lindsay and Scott Greathouse reviewed summer reading habits of
children found that students who did not reading lost as much as three months of their learning. Their reading
skills slid back. Encourage the young students in your life to read, read, read.
In Las Vegas the Clark County Library system has a summer reading program for students of all ages.
Registration is from June 1 through August 2. Prizes are awarded for accomplished reading. Check out their

GOLD IN THEM, THAR, HILLS….Vote on Initiatives 1,2,3, YES, YES, NO!
If you missed ARW June meeting with Senator Michael Roberson, or if you just want a quick review of his
recommendations, here goes…
Three important initiatives will be on the ballet this November. They are bipartisan and will serve as a sound
foundation for beginning conversations with friends and associates, especially democrat and independent
associates…Let’s spread the word, talk ‘m up!
Initiative #1. Appellate Court--vote YES to establish appellate court and assist the backlog. (We are one of five states in the
nation that does not have appellate (intermediary court) and the waits to appeal to state supreme court decisions are
extremely backlogged in NV.)
Initiative #2. Removal of mining tax protection in constitution -- vote YES (Gold mining needs to come to the table and
negotiate their taxes like everyone else.) Yes, there is still gold in them thar Nevada hills, in the billions of NV dollars!
Initiative #3. Margins Tax. vote NO This is a tax on the margin of profit, a 2% tax on business’ gross revenue. This will hurt/
kill medium/small businesses. (The wording is for education funding but it goes to the general fund??? This is bad for many
reasons.)

Ronald Reagan
40th U.S. President (1981—1989)
Political Party: Republican
Ronald Reagan was
born February 6, 1911
in Tampico, Illinois. He
attended high school in
nearby Dixon and later
worked his way
through Eureka
College. He excelled in
athletics, studied
economics and
sociology, and acted in
school plays. He
became a radio sports
announcer after
graduation. A screen
test in 1937 won him a
Hollywood contract,
where during the next two decades he appeared in 53 films. He married fellow actress Jane Wyman, but later divorced and married Nancy Davis.
Reagan’s political career began as president of the Screen Actors Guild where he became embroiled in the dispute over communist influences in the movie
industry. It was during this time his political affiliation shifted from liberal to conservative. He toured the country as a television host, becoming a spokesman
for conservatism and branding himself a formidable anti-communist. In 1966 he was elected Governor of California by a margin of a million votes, and was
later re-elected in 1970.
Ronald Reagan won the Republican Presidential nomination in 1980 and chose as his running mate former Texas Congressman and United Nations
Ambassador George Bush. Voters exasperated by inflation and by the year-long confinement of Americans in Iran swept the Republican ticket into office.
Reagan won 489 electoral votes to 49 for President Jimmy Carter, making it one of the largest landslide victories in American history.
On January 20, 1981, Reagan took office. Only 69 days later he was shot by a would-be assassin, but quickly recovered and returned to duty. His grace and
wit during the dangerous incident caused his popularity to soar. During the campaign, he aimed to reinvigorate the American spirit by reducing reliance on
government and restore “the great, confident roar of American progress and growth and optimism.” Thus, the “Reagan Revolution” was launched.
Dealing skillfully with Congress, Reagan obtained legislation to stimulate economic growth, curb inflation, increase employment, and strengthen national
defense. He embarked upon a course of cutting taxes and Government expenditures, refusing to deviate from it when the strengthening of defense forces led
to a large deficit. After winning re-election in 1984, Reagan continued to spearhead his vision for a conservative America, where success is gained through
the individual spirit and self-reliance.
In his second term, Reagan obtained an overhaul of the income tax code, which eliminated many deductions and exempted millions of people with low
incomes. At the end of his administration, the Nation was enjoying its longest recorded period of peacetime prosperity without recession or depression. His
popularity extended to many Democrats as well. His passion and joviality enticed many of the “Reagan Democrats” to support many of his policies, and he
enjoyed an amicable political relationship with House Speaker Tip O’Neil.
In foreign policy, Reagan sought to achieve "peace through strength." During his two terms he increased defense spending 35 percent, but sought to
improve relations with the Soviet Union despite rhetoric against the “Evil Empire.” In dramatic meetings with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, he negotiated
a treaty that would eliminate intermediate-range nuclear missiles. Reagan declared war against international terrorism, sending American bombers against
Libya after evidence came out that Libya was involved in an attack on American soldiers in a West Berlin nightclub. In keeping with the Reagan Doctrine to
stem communism’s spread, he supported insurgencies in Central America, Asia, and Africa.
Overall, the Reagan years saw a restoration of prosperity, and the goal of peace through strength seemed to be within grasp. As he left office in 1989,
Reagan urged America to “stay the course” of conservative values that drove the nation back to good fortune. Sadly, several years after he left office, he
suffered from the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease until his death in June 2004.

Victor Hanson Davis is a prolific political author/
commentator. This article is really worth the read; it is his
perspective on the illegal “importing” of underage
children into the USA without their parents. Each of us,
the American taxpayers and even those who pay no
income taxes, will all pay for this travesty - and for many
years/ generations. There are only so many resources, so
much money; their financial support will have to come
somewhere. And that somewhere is middle America - the ones the Dems profess to be their protected class. The
American standard of living will decline. Add this cost to that of sky rocketing energy, food and all goods and
services as a result of costly Federal and State government mandates/regulations. Can the America we know and
love survive? Are we too fat, dumb and lazy?

We all ask why - well here is the answer. Thank you, Ulli, for posting this on FB. Together We Win, Mo
“Comprehensive immigration reform” is not meant to be reform. It is not comprehensive, and it has little to do
with legal immigration. If it did, we would be told precisely how the border was first to be secured; on what
grounds those illegal aliens with criminal records, those on public assistance and without a work history, and
those who just arrived would be deported; and how legal immigration in the future would be adjudicated. All
that is never quite spelled out, because activists do not want the border closed. They do not want anyone
deported under any circumstances. They do not want legal immigration to be meritocratic and ethnically and
racially blind. But they cannot say that publicly, so they revert to the slurs of “nativist” and “racist.” To the
degree that any would-be reformer wishes any of the above clarifications, it is probably only on the
assumption that Barack Obama won’t enforce such laws anyway, but would pick and choose those that suit
him, as he has in the past.
Then we come to the Chamber of Commerce, Silicon Valley, and the WSJ crowd, who want inexpensive labor
and expect the market to adjudicate human traffic to and fro across the border. Even they do not claim
America is experiencing labor shortages, given that we are suffering with the largest number of non-working
adults in recent history. Business people most certainly do not want illegal aliens joining unions and
organizing for higher wages once they become legal residents. And they do not want their own children in
“diverse” schools where large numbers of impoverished, non-English-speaking immigrants might “enrich” the
educational landscape.
Corporate types as a rule worry about neighborhoods where gangs are ascendant. In truth, they want illegal
aliens working in their factories, hotels, restaurants, and fields, but not living next door. I don’t quite know
whether the corporate grandee just wants cheap labor, with the understanding that government and the
taxpayer will pick up the ensuing social costs of illegal immigration when his laborers become sick or too old
to work, or whether he finds his loud support for illegal immigration a sort of psychological recompense for
his guilt over his own apartheid existence, but the two are not mutually exclusive.
ARW Editorial Page...Continued
Go to Palo Alto or Mountain View and then contrast it with Redwood City: Metrosexuals and Pajama
Boy techies make a great deal of money in the former, while their low-paid gardeners and nannies
crowd into the latter. And never the twain seems to meet, if at all possible. If Silicon Valley’s
billionaires were to build mansions in Redwood City and plan to put their children in the public
schools there, they might be a bit more credible in their loud denunciations of all those who are not
persuaded by their multi-million-dollar advocacy of illegal immigration.
Then there is the public. We do not insist that immigrants learn English, as our grandparents did a
hundred years ago. We do not instruct them in the history, protocols, and traditions of our own
country — not surprising, perhaps, given that either we no longer know them ourselves, or, if we do,
we find them disturbing. We do not live among and associate with Latino immigrants. And then we
wonder why all of sudden an illegal alien from Oaxaca boos the U.S. soccer team as he cheers on
Mexico’s, or why those who risked their lives to flee horrid conditions in Mexico plaster the Mexican
flag on their cars in a way they would never do in Mexico. Or why, after tramping into the American
desert ostensibly to become an American, the immigrant child proceeds to soak up in his Chicano
Studies class why the desert is not really American in the first place. Only this bankrupt generation of
Americans could distill messages to illegal aliens that the homeland they fled is wonderful and the
paradise they risked their lives to reach is abhorrent.
What a sad bunch we have become. Add them all up: a demagogic president at war with the
Constitution and eager to nullify existing law for partisan purposes; the conniving employer who
wants cheap labor to drive down the cost of doing business as he praises the “free market”; the
scheming Mexican government in need of remittances and apparently desirous to have fewer of the
poor, indigenous people of Oaxaca; the racialist identity activists who in projection call everyone else
racist; the calculating Democratic politician eager to have more impoverished constituents who need
him to give them stuff; the bankrupt educationalists who dreamed up ethnic-studies classes that
would retard integration and assimilation.
To paraphrase Tacitus, we created a desert and called it comprehensive immigration reform.
NRO contributor Victor Davis Hanson is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and the author, most
recently, of The Savior Generals.

JUNE 2014 GENERAL MEETING

I am a Republican because…

I believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s
dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.

I believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of
race, creed, sex, age or disability

I believe free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.

I believe government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to
keep more of the money they earn.

I believe the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and
that the best government is that which governs least.

I believe the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government
closest to the people.

I believe Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

I believe Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride
while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.

Finally, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
