Minute Man Arc is committed to enhancing

Dear Families and Friends,
Minute Man Arc brought together people, resources and ideas to make things happen in
fiscal year 2014. It was an exciting and challenging year as we spent many months searching
for and negotiating the lease on a new building for our adult programs. I am delighted to
report that our adult participants will be moving to 35 Forest Ridge Road in Concord
beginning in the spring.
I am personally grateful to the entire Board and many employees who collaborated to
achieve a successful outcome for the agency. Additionally, special thanks go to John Amaral
and George Robb from Omni Properties who spent countless hours working with us,
advising us and negotiating on our behalf. They went above and beyond the call of duty.
Everyone involved in the process demonstrated a fine cooperative spirit to find a solution
that will benefit the agency’s participants for decades to come.
The next twelve months will yield many positive changes for Minute Man Arc’s adult
population as we renovate and develop the new space to suit our growing needs.
I encourage the community to join me in supporting the agency as we embark on the
next phase of delivering essential services to this wonderful population. It is a pleasure to
work with Minute Man Arc and I look forward to another exciting year as president.

Message from the Executive Director What a year! We started FY14 on a positive
note with our CARF Accreditation by
receiving the highest level plus a special
commendation for monitoring inspections
and safety concerns. Then we endured
a major flood at our Emerson House
and needed to find alternative living
arrangements for two months for the eight
men who live there. Happily, we made some

nice improvements in the home during the
repair and it looks better than ever.
Later in the year, following a long and thorough search, we were
able to lease a beautiful modern building on five acres at 35
Forest Ridge Road in Concord. This will be the agency’s new
home for our adult programs and administrative offices, and
ultimately our Early Intervention Program. The long range goal is
to purchase the building and house all our programs under one
roof with room to expand over the next 20 years.
Internally, we focused on staff hiring and workforce development.
We launched an 80-hour intensive training program including 24
hours of positive behavior support to give our the location to be
determined. staff the tools they need to succeed in their jobs and
support our consumers much more effectively. We delivered over
10,000 hours of trainingin FY14! Going forward this will be
required of all new staff.
As we begin FY15, we are looking forward to moving into our
new home on Forest Ridge Road and continuing many positive
initiatives begun last year. Stay tuned for more on our expansion!

What we offer
Minute Man Arc offers a wide array of programs for individuals of all
ages with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Headquartered in
Concord, Massachusetts and serving the surrounding nine towns, Minute
Man Arc integrates support into home environments, organizations,
places of employment and local communities. The agency comprises
three areas of service:
Early Intervention
Family Services
A family-centered and integrated service for
children birth to three who have or are at risk
for developmental delays and disabilities.
A broad array of services to assist families with the
challenges of raising a child with special needs or
supporting an adult with developmental disabilities.
Services include after-school, after-work and
recreational programming as well as free parent
workshops.

500 Marchers Take to the Streets
This year, Executive Director Jean Goldsberry had a much longer line to marshal as the special
10th Anniversary Minute Man March wove its way though West Concord. Over 500 participants,
countless donors, and generous business sponsors kept Minute Man Arc marching forward, helping
to raise over $130,000 to support, expand and enrich agency programs.
Many new people joined in the fun walk and celebration
including the Bedford Rotary Club and the Concord Alcott
School fifth grade class. State Representative Kate Hogan
surprised the agency with a special 10th Anniversary Citation
signed by the Massachusetts House of Representatives and
Senator James Eldridge spoke of the need for more funding for
disability programs.
This year’s carnival theme included a bounce house, an ice
cream truck, a new BBQ menu, a popcorn stand staffed by the

largest employer of Minute Man Arc
participants.
Concord Lion’s Club, a dozen top notch raffle
prizes, and many fun activities and games
for every age. D.J. Brew kept the dance
music flowing throughout the day.
Thanks to hundreds of dedicated volunteers,

the March continues to be financially
successful. But it is the power of our
individuals – mustering their best abilities
and leading the way to a better future – that
keeps our event growing each year.
