Overview Based on the growing demand for qualified professionals, the Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certification was developed and added to the broad portfolio of professional certifications offered by the Association of Energy Engineers. This unique course, which has been offered for the first time in Ireland, aims to address the needs of modern business. By incorporating a Certified Energy Audit (CEA) professional qualification with Certification Europe’s own bespoke ISO 50001 energy management system course we aim to arm energy management professionals with the complete tool kit to reduced energy use in any organisation. Covering the concepts and structures of effective energy management from a systems structure (based around the International Energy Management System ISO 50001) and a technical concept, this course looks at how to identify the areas of significant energy use and gives attendees approaches to assess the energy performance of the organisation. Using case studies and practical exercises, this 3 day course (plus 1 day for an exam) will guide delegates through the typical areas of significant energy use within organisations and provide trainees the ability to assess their effectiveness of use and typical opportunities that might exist. This course will provide delegates with the skills to conduct energy audits in their organisations, and assess these organisations against current best practice as enshrined in ISO 50001; this course is ideal for but not limited to; Energy Managers Staff members of energy teams Facility managers Architects who want to design and build more energy efficient buildings. Learning Outcomes Gain a professional qualification in energy auditing Learn how to prepare, lead and report on the findings of an energy management system audit Develop a thorough understanding of best practice in audit methodology Identify energy and cost saving opportunities Acquire detailed knowledge of current best practice in energy management Apply financial principles to energy management including life cycle costing analysis Develop savings to investment analysis skill set Training and Exam Logistics CEA Exam and certification The training will be delivered by Ian Boylan, CEM, CEA, CMVP, and an AEE approved trainer, who will also administer the four-hour CEA Exam following the training. Those seeking the CEA designation must meet the following requirements (in addition to passing the exam): A four-year degree from an accredited university or college in engineering or architecture, or be a registered Chartered Engineer or Registered architect (R.A.I), the above being coupled with the applicant having at least three years’ experience in energy auditing, energy management or facility management; OR A four-year non-engineering degree from an accredited college or university in a field not specified above with four years’ experience in energy auditing or energy management or facility management; OR A Fetac Level 6 technical qualification and at least 5 years’ experience in energy auditing or energy management or facility management; OR At least 10 years’ verified experience in energy auditing or energy management or facility management; OR The current status of Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) If all eligibility requirements are met and a passing exam score is achieved, AEE will grant the CEA certification. Delegates that pass the exams but who do not possess the experience / qualification will be awarded the qualification CEA IT (in training) Registration and Costs This AEE event is managed by Certification Europe on behalf of AEE (Irish Chapter).
