Dr. M.W. Rhyne is an optometrist who specializes in
Development Vision, Rehabilitation and Vision Therapy.
He received his undergraduate at University of Tennessee
Knoxville and his Optometry Doctorate from Southern
College of Optometry. He has over 40 years of experience as
an optometrist and practices in north Knoxville in his group
(Drs. Rhyne, Patton, and Gilliland). Dr. Rhyne is a member
of the Gold Key Optometric Society and a Founding Editor
of the American Optometric Student Association National
publication, “Student Review.” He is a member of the
American Optometric Association, Tennessee Association
of Optometric Physicians, Optometric Extension Program
Foundation Clinical Associate, and an Associate Member of
the Committee for Vision Development.

Kevi Ames, PT, DPT, MBA has extensive teaching
experience in vestibular rehabilitation, concussion
management, fall prevention, balance assessment/
management and computerized rehabilitation equipment.
She has over 20 years of active experience with treating
neurologically impaired individuals with vestibular problems
in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She received
her undergraduate degree from Boston University and her
Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Massachusetts General
Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She has a MBA
from Marylhurst University. She is currently the Outpatient
Rehabilitation Services Manager for Kaiser Permanente of
the NW and Co-owner and Founder of Balance & Low Vision
Solutions, LLC. She is the lead Clinical Consultant for
NeuroCom International also known as Natus.

Julie Allen, MS, OTR attended several schools starting
with the University of Washington for her BA in Kinesiology
and received her Occupational Therapy Degree from
Pacific University. She attended the University of Alabama
Birmingham Graduate Certificate in Low Vision and her
Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from UAB. She
is currently the Program Manager for Rehab Without Walls
and co-owner of Balance and Low Vision Solutions.

Caroline Owen is an alumnus of Patricia Neal Rehab
Center. She and her family are responsible for the
CarolineCan Endowment which supports this educational
opportunity. She is from Knoxville, Tennessee and was a
student at Clemson University who suffered a car accident
on her way back to school resulting in her brain injury. She
participates in a variety of Patricia Neal IRC programs as well
as general fun activities in the area which include: scuba,
climbing, cycling, water skiing and the Rev3 triathlon with
her two brothers.

The 15th Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center Brain Injury
Workshop, “Focus on Vision and Balance in the Brain
Injured Patient” is Saturday, November 8, 2014. The cost of
the workshop is $50, which includes registration, CEU fee,
breakfast and lunch. The cost of the workshop will be waived
for employees of Covenant Health and the Allied Health
student fee is $30. There are a limited number of scholarships
available for brain injured survivors and their family members.
For scholarship information, please contact Al Kaye at 865541-1353. The event has received approval for 0.7 CEU’s
through Pellissippi State Technical Community College.
This workshop has also applied for CEU’s through TPTA and
AOTA. CEU’s will vary according to certifying body. The event
will be held at Rothchild Catering & Conference Center.
