Janine Fee MS, MPT practices vestibular and balance rehabilitation at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, PA working in a variety of settings including outpatient rehabilitation, emergency department, acute care and inpatient rehabilitation. She is the program coordinator for Evangelical Community Hospital Dizziness and Balance Program. Janine holds Master’s degrees in Exercise Physiology (West Virginia University, 1996) and Physical Therapy (University of Pittsburgh, 1998). Janine attained her competency certification in “Vestibular Rehabilitation” from Herdman in 2004. She has assisted and lectured continuing education courses for audiologists, physicians and therapists involved in managing patients with dizziness and imbalance since 2009 for Jeffrey Walter PT, DPT, NCS, Vestibular Seminars. She has also presented to several community education courses on balance and fall prevention as well as provided free screens at health fairs to raise awareness of the various balance and vestibular disorders. Email [email protected] Course Description: This introductory 4 hour course is designed to help the clinician better identify vestibular disorders through a basic bedside vestibular exam. A hands-on lab will allow the participants to practice and easily apply evaluation and treatment strategies for vestibular disorders. Minimal equipment needed to apply this basic bedside exam immediately in the clinical setting. Course Objectives: 1. Brief overview of the anatomy and physiology of the Vestibular System 2. Some common vestibular system disorders and management options (brief overview of BPPV, vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis and Meniere’s disease) 3. Perform a basic bedside/office exam to better identify a vestibular disorder 4. Apply some treatment strategies to allow for optimal patient outcomes
