Fernando F. López, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF,
CLTC, General Agent, started his career in the
insurance & financial industry 33 years ago with New
England Life Insurance Co. During his first year, he was
recognized as Star Producer and Rookie of the Year and
qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table in his second
year in the business (1981).
In 1982, he was appointed Sales Manager. Three
years later, he was appointed Brokerage Manager,
reaching a level of production that allowed him to
rank among the top performers in the nation.
Award in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002,
2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. In
addition, the agency achieved Best Year Ever in
2012 and The Chairman’s Trophy in 2012.
In 1987, he attained the CLU (Chartered Life
Underwriter) designation, and in 1997, the ChFC
(Chartered Financial Consultant) designation. The
insurance designations allow him to offer
professional advice to clients in the areas of Life
Insurance, Disability Income Insurance, Long Term
Care Insurance and Investments.
Currently, López manages 85 Career Agents and
over 500 Insurance Brokers specializing in Life,
Disability Income Insurance and Long Term Care
Insurance. They also work with clients in the areas
of Succession Planning, Retirement Planning,
Estate Planning and Investments.
In 1988, López founded MassMutual’s General
Agency in Puerto Rico.
Since the beginning, the agency obtained top
recognition such as Agency Objective Award
(1989, 1990, and 1991) and Agency Development
Award (1990, 1991), Master Agency Award in 1997
and the Crystal Achievement Award in 2008 and

In his free time, López is the President of the
National Association of Insurance Agents and
Financial Advisors (NAIFA), and is the Treasurer of
the Puerto Rico Life and Disability Insurance
Guarantee Association.
He also collaborates with United Way of Puerto
Rico and the Sales and Marketing Executives
Association (SME).
