The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology
of the University of Namibia (UNAM) in Ongwediva will
launch its Master of Science degree programme in Civil
Engineering (MSc Civil Engineering), on 21 July 2014. The
MSc Civil Engineering programme has three areas of
specialisation, namely: Structures; Transport and Water.
However, for the first intake, only the Structures option
and the Transport option will be launched.
The MSc Civil Engineering programme consists of
advanced taught courses plus one year of research
and thesis at NQF Level 9. The minimum duration of the
programme is two (2) years of full time study or three (3)
years of part time study. The entry requirement is a B.Eng.
or B.Sc (Civil Engineering) degree, Upper Second.
Those who specialise in the Structures option will be
able to plan, analyse and design civil engineering
structures such as houses, high rise buildings, high volume
containers, bridges, storage silos, amongst others. Those
who specialise in the Transport option will be able to plan
sustainable transport systems, design safe
e roads, railway
systems, supervise road construction, design airport
runways, manage harbours and seaports with associated
transport logistics.

indicate the option in which they would like to specialise,
i.e. Structures or Transport, as well as the mode of study, i.e.
Full-time (Ongwediva Campus) or Part-time (Windhoek,
School of Medicine).
Completed application forms and proof of payment of
N$100 application fee should be submitted to Student
Records at the Main Campus or to Cashiers at other
