From Response to Research: Learning from Emergencies

Guest speaker – Dr. Theresa Bernardo - Associate Professor, Veterinary Medicine and
Founder of One Health Knowledge Initiatives, Michigan State University
While working with the Pan American Health Organization, Theresa Bernardo dealt with a worldwide flu epidemic
(H1N1) and a devastating earthquake in Haiti. Using new media and other informational technologies, she helped
the WHO regional office uncover new ways to use technology to save lives in disaster situations,that can also be
used to improve overall public health.
