Cocalico Youth Basketball Program Overview
Objective: To teach basketball skills in a fun and positive environment.
Team & League Structure:
Intramural Leagues: There are separate intramural leagues for 3/4th grade and 5/6th grade. We typically
have 6-8 teams of approximately 8 players in each of these leagues. We try to have 2 coaches for each team
(so please volunteer to help coach!!). All intramural practices and games are held at the Cocalico Middle
School Gym.
Travel Teams: Additionally, there are individual travel teams for 5 th grade and 6th grade. The tryouts for
these teams are scheduled for Nov. 3rd (5 th grade) and Nov. 4th (6th grade), and will be run by the varsity
coaching staff. All players who tryout will hear from the Travel Team coaches shortly after the tryouts. The
travel teams play teams from other schools. There will be an additional fee for players selected for the Travel
Teams to cover referees, league fess, etc.

Oct. 23rd, 6-8p: Registration (Cocalico Middle School gym)
Nov. 3rd, 6-8p: 5th grade Travel Team tryouts (Cocalico Middle School gym)
Nov. 4th, 6-8p: 6th grade Travel Team tryouts (Cocalico Middle School gym)
Nov. 5th/6th: 1st practice day for Travel Teams
Nov. 29th: Intramural coaches will contact players with practice schedules by this date
Dec. 2nd/3rd: 1st practices for Intramural teams
Dec. 4th: Harlem Wizards Game @ High School 6:30p
Dec. 6th: 1st games for Intramural teams
Practices & Games:
Intramural League
oAll intramural teams will practice in the Cocalico Middle School on Wednesdays or Thursdays, either from 67pm or 7-8pm. Parents are welcome to stay for practice.
oAll intramural games are in the Cocalico Middle School on Saturday mornings at 8a, 9a, 10a or 11a. We
actively seek volunteers on Saturday mornings to help referee and keep score for the games. This league is
not possible without the help of involved parents!
5th and 6th Grade Travel Teams
oThe Travel Teams schedule is more flexible since they must accommodate all of the other schools’
schedules. We have reserved gym time on Monday and Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons for home
games and practices. In addition, there will likely be away games, and potentially practices, on other days of
the week as well.
