Burnaby Central Music Parents Committee Meeting Minutes February 18, 2014 Present Deb Campbell (chair), Gillian Potter (Secretary), Kathy Matich, Joanne Jung, Carey Robson, Carrie Taylor (teacher) Minutes of January 21, 2014 Minutes Approved Teachers Report: Upcoming Concerts:     February 26 District Jazz Band Evening (Mountain Secondary) March 4-6 Kiwanis Choral Festival March 5-7 Grade 9 Band Trip to Victoria Addition to Music dates 2013-2014, April 23, Burnaby Intermediate Choral Festival at MJ Fox Theater  Addition to Music dates 2013-2014 May 14, 2014 Shannon Gair elementary school music teacher is putting on an afterschool band concert here at Central. Douglas College is booked for May 28th, 2014 for Concert bands and Jazz bands performances will be here at Central. We will do the door by donation again. Choir Venue is at the New Westminster Christian Reform Church on Thursday June 5th, Fees have gone up to $600 for any future booking we have managed to secure June 5, 2014 at the old rate of $400. April 10-12 Senor Music tour to Portland more Chaperones are needed for this trip. May 5-7 Grade 10 Band Trip to Timberline more Chaperones are needed. Business for Treasurer, gift card fundraising funds for one student’s account, invoices to pay church bookings and Ms. Taylor reported out the Music Committee have received $500 from the Finance Committee. Loon Lake was a great trip! We have a large band and a great group of kids! New Business: We are concerned that our minutes are not reaching the larger group of music parents, or that it is hitting the list serve. Changes are needed to our school web site to include a music parents tab on the front page, where our information is easily accessible. Gillian will try and contact someone at the board to speak to them about our vision for creating a music page on the school website. Some things to be included would be; post minutes, meeting reminders, upcoming dates/events, and donation link Fundraising: The launch date for the spring raffle ticket sales is April 22, and the end date is May 9th, 2014. We will really need to get a big push going to sell as many as possible. Prize for top seller. Deb and Gillian will get together and try brainstorm/ discuss how we can reach other music parents and have more parents involved in our group.
