Objective:
The goal of the DAR Genealogy Preservation Committee is to preserve and make accessible DAR Records.
The current project is the Supporting Documentation Project. Documentation provided with the application is
scanned and digitized by National. DAR member volunteers will review these digitized records and
categorize the different types of documentation (for example – vital records, probate records, military records,
etc.) Once completed, this resource will be an invaluable tool to help locate appropriate documentation.
Chapter chairmen are asked to encourage participation in this project, make periodic reports to the chapter as
to the progress being made by her volunteers.
Reporting:
Chapter Chairmen should report in January to her Chapter Regent the number of volunteers and documents
categorized, to be credited to her chapter for Chapter Achievement Award points and on the MQ under the
VIS section. There are no forms for these reports.
