PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
LEADERSHIP 2013
The year 2013 was a busy one for the Binaytara Foundation (BTF)
team as we expanded our efforts towards bringing positive changes
in our communities through health and education promotion.
Thanks to your continued involvement, support, and encouragement, BTF was not only able to continue its ongoing projects, but
also able to add new projects.
Dr. Binay Shah - President

Achievements for us this last year have included receiving special
consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social
Council, organized two hematology conferences in Lewiston,
Idaho and Kathmandu, Nepal, provided a hematology review
course to nearly 100 physicians, and provided five research grants
to medical students. Lastly, we sponsored the training of a Bone
Marrow Transplant (BMT) team from Civil Service Hospital of
Nepal at the University of Illinois Medical Center to establish a
Bone Marrow Transplant Center in Nepal.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank BTF board members, volunteers, donors, partners, and well wishers of BTF for
your contributions. Without you, BTF would not have been able to
achieve what it has achieved. BTF hopes to collaborate with more

BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT CENTER FOR NEPAL
The Binaytara Foundation has partnered with
the University of Illinois at Chicago and the
Civil Service Hospital of Nepal to establish a
Bone Marrow Transplant Center in Nepal.
Bone marrow transplant is an effective treatment for many
patients with hematologic disorders including those with
lymphomas, leukemias, and multiple myelomas. A stem cell
transplant center in Nepal will provide care to patients from
Nepal and the surrounding states of India.
A team of two physicians and a registered nurse
