Bilton School started the match brilliantly and scored a converted try within the first 5 minutes with some strong running from Thomas Jempson. Avon Valley found some confidence and at half time were leading 25-22. As the game progressed Bilton School got back into the game, Daniel Price, Cameron Buxton both had excellent games and both scoring good tries. The final score was 41-45 to Avon Valley, both teams played their part in a very entertaining game. Year 7 Netball The year 7’s got off to a great start for their indoor tournament with the local schools on Tuesday night when they played Avon Valley School. The girls worked hard throughout the whole game and took on board any feedback that Mrs Warwood or Miss Plackett gave to them. This resulted in strong win on 14-1. The second game was against Rugby High School. The girls played hard and were only two goals behind at the end of the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately Rugby High’s experience got the better of our girls and won 10-5. This is a fantastic achievement for the year 7 team who with more experience will be able to give Rugby High a real run for their money. YEAR 11 SNATCH VICTORY FROM THE JAWS OF DEFEAT Congratulations to our year 11 football team on a fantastic victory in the Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup. After going in at half time 3-1 down things were looking bleak for our boys. However, some inspirational words at half time seemed to give the team a new desire to create chances and close down the opposition. With 2 minutes to go in extra time Josh Kavanagh popped up to smash the ball home from 2 yards to secure a victory. The first for Bilton school in this competition. With the final being held at the Ricoh Stadium the lads will hope they can negotiate the next two rounds so that they can represent the school in the famous stadium. Those involved were: Elliot Groocock, Jakub Kaczor, Luke Dodd, Morgan Deakin, Jordan Mosby, Kieran Williams, Daniel Winiarek, Alex Webb, Keelan Bennett, Josh Kavanagh, Harry Leggett, Josh Giles and Bradley Osborne-Wells Caitlin Voges played U14 Warwickshire Badminton Championships on Saturday 22nd November, she performed brilliantly and won a silver medal narrowly missing out on gold by a couple of points, she was then invited to play U16 championships and received a bronze medal (3rd). This puts her in line for a position in the Warwickshire County Badminton Team, which is by invitation only. We wish her all the best in the future with Warwickshire team. Year 7 Hockey Year 7 played against Coundon Court School Thursday night in their first ever hockey game. The girls worked incredibly hard in the first half holding Coundon to a 1 all draw. The girls went into the second half with fighting confidence but unfortunately Coundon Court proved to be a stronger side getting a goal early in the second half. The girls managed to keep their heads after conceding a goal and had a couple of attempts on goal themselves but unfortunately nothing quite came through. A fantastic first effort by all the girls. Well Done. PAGE 2
