California Department of Fish and Wildlife Seasonal Job Bulletin Position: Fish and Wildlife Scientific Aid (1 positions) Position Number: 565-541-0835-905 RPA Number: SCR 13-038 Program: Inland Fisheries Location: San Diego, CA Salary Range: $11.58 per hour starting Hours: Part time & flexible, 16 - 30 hrs/week. (year-round) Application Deadline: until filled Minimum Qualifications: • Willingness to work irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays; • Properly wear a uniform; • Either I: Education - Two years of college with 10 semester units in biology or other natural resource related studies OR II: one year experience in surveying, studying, or evaluating fish or wildlife populations; • Ability to read and speak English at a level required for successful job performance; • Ability to swim 50 yards and stay afloat at least five minutes; • Work in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain; • Possession of a valid California driver’s license, with a clean driving record • Lift 40lbs. Desired Knowledge and Abilities: • Comprehension of fish biology and life history • Familiarity with ecological management principles • Familiar with boat nomenclature and safe trailering practices • Word processing and data entry skills • Good organizational skills and ability to keep accurate records • Self-motivated with good people skills Duties: • Assist with fish surveys, and perform recreational creel survey • Professionally represent the CDFW while working • Assist with habitat restoration and bass tournament monitoring • Perform data entry and analysis • Assist with public events and provide education and outreach Contact: D.
