Conference Bursaries Wildlife Disease Association
(Australasian Section)
The Wildlife Disease Association (Australasian Section) Conference Bursaries will be
awarded by the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences to two students each year
to be used towards registration, travel and/or accommodation costs to attend the annual
WDA-A Conference.
Two bursaries, each with the value of $1000 will be awarded to students with an interest in
wildlife health who are formally enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine course at any
year level.
These bursaries are provided through the generous support of Dr Amanda Jane Breidahl (BVSc
1979).
Terms and conditions:
1. Applicants must demonstrate their interest in wildlife health by providing the following
documentation;
• A short Curriculum Vitae
• A short statement (maximum 250 words) describing why they want to attend
the WDA-A Conference and how it will benefit their education.
• Supplementary documents such as references or letters of support from
wildlife health practitioners or similar.
2. Applicants must also provide evidence of prior approval from their DVM year level
coordinator to attend the WDA-A annual conference
3. The successful applicants must
• Become student members of WDA-A (if they are not already a member) prior
to the annual conference.
• Attend the WDA-A annual conference in the year that the bursary was
awarded.
• Prepare and submit a short written report (maximum 250 words) describing
how their attendance at the WDA-A annual conference contributed to their
understanding of wildlife health as well as their future career plans and
opportunities. The report is to be submitted not more than 2 months after the
conference and a copy will be provide to Dr Breidahl.
4. Allocation of the bursaries will be determined by the Scholarships Committee, which is
chaired by the Dean of the Faculty.
5. The Scholarships Committee may, as part of its deliberations, consult with experts in
the field of Wildlife Health.
6. An applicant may only be awarded this bursary one time.
