Welcome to Steppler Farms Charolais bull sale on March 25, 2014. Dan and Pat
registered their first purebred 39 years ago and sold bulls by private treaty until the
farm decided to hold an annual sale; 2014 marks our 3rd year selling bulls through
public auction. We offer 50 yearling and 20 two-year old bulls, the largest group of
Charolais bulls to sell at auction in Manitoba.
The 2014 yearling bull pen again offers consistency, and predictability, traits that have
been selected from our 3 main sires. The two year old bulls are awesome. Last year’s
twos were in demand so we are offering even more for your selection. When you view
the bulls on the Cattle in Motion video, you will be impressed with the overall quality
and depth in the pens. There are definite herd bull prospects again this year.

We are proud of our 400 registered Charolais cow herd. They are efficient, easy-doing, fertile
animals with excellent temperaments. Each year, we select the top 80 calves to develop as
et
breeding bulls and the top 80 heifers to retain as replacement females. That means we market
240 white feeders as well. Each year we top the market with these thick topped, deep quar-tered, hairy feeders. The order buyers perk up when our animals hit the ring and they bringg
a premium because the buyers know what these calves are and what they will do.
Purchase a Steppler Charolais bull on March 25 at our sale; breed him to red cows, black
cows, white cows-it doesn’t matter. Don’t be fooled by some critics in the industry; if you
have white cows breed them white. It most definitely works for us; it will work for you. We
know that using a Charolais bull will make you money!
On the personal side, Adam and his fiancée Amber Lea became engaged in January and are planning an October wedding. We are excited
to welcome Amber to the family. Ian continues to expand his honey operation with over 1000 hives in his apiary; he and Sandy are busy
with their family of five. Geoff flies for Air Canada and his wife Sarah works as a speech pathologist. Katie has returned to work full time
as a physiotherapist. We are expecting our 2nd child in September.

When you go to town to sell your calves, consistency pays. This herd is consistent with many ½ and ¾ sisters and many cow families prevalent.
This is the largest herd of registered Charolais females in Manitoba and one of the largest in Canada. It has been developed over four decades and
the same principles apply today. The cattle have to work for them and their customers.
The Steppler farm is a solid family operation. They are a diverse agriculture operation that has many facets, but they all work together in the busy
times for each enterprise. They have been here for years and will be here for years to come, so they want to make you a satisfied customer.
The depth of the bull pen is the strongest it has been with quality running deep. They also have one of the
largest groups of two year old bulls selling in Manitoba. If you are looking for some quality bulls that were
held for two year olds, not just leftovers, this is the place to be. Miami is beautiful at the end of March so plan
your winter vacation now.

We purchased Seminole 927W as a yearling out of Sparrow Farms
2009 bull sale because we were impressed by the bull’s tremendous
thickness, length of spine, and depth of rib. In addition, Seminole
is correct in every way and is perfectly footed with lots of hair
and excellent testicle development. With Seminole, we won 2010
Supreme Champion Bull at MLE in 2010 as well as winning Grand
Champion Charolais bull the same year. We used Seminole heavily in
our breeding program, as well as using him to head up our AI program.
The Seminole sons were highly sought after in last year’s sale. This
year 35 sons are on offer in the sale. Seminole’s sons follow their
father’s footsteps with these curve bending stats behind them: Top 2%
for Weaning Weight, Top 1% for Yearling Weight and Top 3% for Total
Maternal. We have calved out over 60 Seminole females and they are
simply awesome, excellent udders and ample milk.

We raised this son of Sparrow’s Oakridge and he was the Agribition
Reserve Grand Champion Charolais bull. Distinction’s bull calves have
inherited their sire’s square top and moderate deep side; they are
soggy type bulls, exhibiting balanced EPD’s for weaning weights and
yearling weights along with excellent feet and testicle development.
The Distinction daughters that are working in our herd are deep,
sound footed females.

Oakridge, purchased from Sparrow’s 2007 sale, is a sound footed, deepsided bull that consistently adds both top and hip to his offspring.
Oakridge females have now taken over as foundation females in our
cow herd; again consistency is evidenced in their overall volume, and
excellent milk production.

NOTES
Terms & Conditions
Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in
Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will
be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.
Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the
sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special
representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is
made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid.
The auctioneer’s decision is final.
Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take
precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close
attention to announcements.
Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All
animals left with the seller must be insured. All two year old bulls must be delivered
as soon as possible.
Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian
Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the
buyer after payment has been made.
Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. A $50 discount
will be given if purchases are picked up sale day. Delivery will be free up to 150 kms;
a delivery charge of $50 per animal will be charged for distances over 150 km; we will
share in delivery costs for out-of- province animals. The purchaser agrees shipping
arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical
after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.
STEPPLER Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to
prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall
be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase
or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the
right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given
that semen collected from the bull will freeze. The purchaser must have the animal
vet checked and if a problem is detected, the animal must be returned to Steppler
Farms at the purchaser’s expense. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, interest,
veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. If
the seller is successful in proving the animal in question a breeder, the said animal
will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to so prove
the animal a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B.
ranch or location of origin, or a sale credit of the actual price to be used at the next
year’s sale. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase
price.
Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or
surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal
has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be
responsible for more than the purchase price.
Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and
comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any
responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident
or loss of property.
By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not
