Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection days for 2014, and locations as confirmed to date:
Saskatoon dates:
(All Saskatoon dates will be held in the parking lot of the Credit Union Centre (CUC) at the north end of Saskatoon (101 –
3515 Thatcher Ave.) off Highway 16 – Marquis Drive to Bill Hunter Ave. 9:00AM to 3:30PM on the following dates:
January 18
February 22
March 15
April 19
May 17
June 21
July 19
August 16
September 20
October 18
November 15
December 20
These events are for Saskatoon households and Saskatoon rate-payers only. There is no charge for smaller personal
amounts of materials. Commercial and industrial hazardous waste will not be accepted at the CUC events. Please call
Envirotec in Saskatoon at 306-244-9500 to arrange for commercial and industrial hazardous waste management services.
Please note that used paint, stain, aerosols, and related paint materials will not be accepted at the Saskatoon events.
Such materials, as well as electronics, can be recycled at any SARCAN depot during their regular hours. These items
should not be taken to the Saskatoon Household Hazardous Waste events at CUC. Go to www.sarcan.ca for information
on recycling paint and electronics, and which materials are specifically accepted. The nearest SARCAN recycling depot to
the CUC is at 2327 Faithfull Ave, Saskatoon.

Accepted materials for HHW collection for the Saskatoon dates: (containers must be labeled and materials in the
original containers):
•Adhesives - contact cement, caulking, sealer, carpet and linoleum adhesives, glue
•Aerosols - hair spray, insect repellant, lubricant spray, furniture cleaner
•Automotive - used engine oil, used engine oil filters, antifreeze, batteries, carburetor cleaners, old fuel,
windshield cleaner
•Batteries - automotive, cellphone, dry-cell, NiCad, lithium, alkali, lead-acid
•Cleaners - oven cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, glass cleaner, spot remover, disinfectants, car wax
•Corrosives - drain cleaner, engine degreaser, ammonia, battery acid, sulfuric acid
•Fuels – old gasoline, diesel, kerosene, lamp oil, oil/gas mixture
•Mercury - mercury, thermometers, thermostats, fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent lights (CFLs)
•Oxidizers - chlorine, bleach, pool chemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen peroxide, septic tank chemicals
•Poisons - lawn herbicides, garden chemicals, rat poison, gopher killer, insecticides
•Pharmaceuticals - old prescription drugs, medicines (no needles, sharps or biological waste)
•Propane Cylinders - barbeque cylinders, small camp-stove cylinders
•Solvents - paint thinner, acetone, varsol, alcohol, benzene, xylene, naphtha
Prohibited materials:
Ammunition, explosives, weapons, smoke detectors, sharps (needles), biological or infectious waste, unstable materials,
unknown materials, paint and related materials, electronics.
Other locations in Saskatchewan will be posted here if and when they are known. The cities of Regina, Moose
Jaw, and Swift Current are slated to have HHW recycling events in the fall. Please contact those respective city
information lines to see if exact dates are posted.
