CMX-PIV1 Installation Instructions

CMX-PIV1 Installation Instructions
The following instructions combine a CMX-PIV ventilation appliance with a CMX-PIVK1 duct kit, to form a complete Positive
Input Ventilation (PIV) system - CMX-PIV1 - includes automatic speed reduction when inlet temperature exceeds 24ºC.
Important note: These instructions must be read in conjunction with the Silavent CMX MEV installation and operating
instructions supplied with the CMX-PIV appliance. To download, click here or visit www.polypipe.com/ventilation.
WARNING: CHECK THAT THERE ARE NO PIPES, CABLES OR OTHER OBSTRUCTION BEFORE CUTTING OR
DRILLING.
1. Decide on a suitable location for the ceiling inlet grille and the CMX-PIV appliance; that provides both sufficient support and
access for the complete installation.
Remember: Easy, future access will be required to clean/replace the filter bags by the householder.
2. Cut a clean and accurate 200mm diameter hole in the ceiling for the ceiling grille. Using four suitable fasteners, fix in place. It
may be necessary to add suitable battens or noggins in the void above the ceiling to provide a more solid anchor for the
fasteners. Ensure the centre position of the grille is in excess of 500mm from any wall to allow an evenly distributed spread of
air.
WARNING: DO NOT POSITION THE CEILING GRILLE WITHIN 1m OF ANY SMOKE OR CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR.
3. Apply a small amount of Domus DDSEAL acrylic sealant to the inside surface of the 200mm diameter socket of the 200mm to
150mm diameter adapter and fix onto the duct connection spigot of the ceiling grille.
4. Ensure that the arrows moulded in the body of the CMX-PIV point towards the ceiling grille.
5. Apply a small amount of Domus DDSEAL acrylic sealant to the inside surface of the white Domus Megaduct 220mm x 90mm
connector fitted inside the ‘grille’ side of the CMX and fit duct assembly ‘A’.
6. Apply a small amount of Domus DDSEAL acrylic sealant to the inside surface of the white Domus Megaduct 220mm x 90mm
connector fitted inside the opposite side of the CMX-PIV and fit duct assembly ‘B’.
7. Leave sealant to cure for at least 75 minutes (this period should be increased in cold conditions).
8. Using two 150mm diameter adjustable hose clamps, clamp the 150mm diameter flexible hose between the ceiling grille
assembly and duct assembly A. Shorten hose if necessary to ensure a smooth transition between the grille and duct assembly –
do not allow hose to sag.
9. Clip the filter-bag support-frame into the four moulded holes of duct assembly B.
10. Fit the bag filter over the wire support-frame until the elastic waist engages with the moulded duct assembly and the wire
support-frame can no longer be seen.
11. Commission the fan unit using the instructions supplied with the CMX-PIV.
Care and Maintenance:
•
The filter should be changed every 5 years
•
The ceiling grille can be cleaned using a damp cloth if necessary
