DuraDuct KEX: Zero Clearance Kitchen Exhaust Duct DuraDuct Model KEX is a pre-manufactured and noncombus ble double wall kitchen exhaust duct system. DuraDuct KEX is the largest listed kitchen exhaust system in the industry that is rated for 2 hours fire resistance with zero clearance to combus bles and is compliant with IMC, NBCC and NFPA codes. The KEX system is listed as mee ng the requirements of ASTM E2336, the performance requirements of UL 1978, as well as being listed for compliance to the ICC-ES AC101.2 acceptance criteria. By using companion flange connec ons, the KEX system eliminates the field welding required for contractor fabricated grease duct systems. U lizing a rectangular footprint, the KEX system allows flexibility in the design of Type I and Type II commercial kitchen exhaust duct systems enabling the designer to achieve the required airflows in shallow ceiling spaces. DuraDuct KEX is constructed with a code compliant 16 gauge steel inner liner and a robust and impact resistant metal outer casing, complaint to NFPA 4.3.2, resul ng in a 3.75” wall thick- ness. This system is ideal for projects where mul ple hoods are required to be combined into a common (manifold) duct giving the designer the ability to reduce the number of duct runs required. In loca ons where a zero clearance or 2 hour fire rated exhaust system is not required, DuraDuct SED (single wall) kitchen exhaust flanges can be bolted directly to the flanges of DuraDuct KEX providing a direct transi on oﬀering a complete and cost eﬀec ve exhaust solu on. Listed and code compliant access doors and through-penetra on firestopping systems are also incorporated into the design of the system. Other components such as end caps, termina ons, drain sec ons, stainless steel liner and shell, sprinkler head access ports, roof flashings, hood and fan adaptors and duct support designs are included in the complete system scope.
