NEAR™ has again rewritten the book on all-environment
audio. The all new NEAR IG Series employs refinements
made to our legendary MDT and MLS technologies. In the all
new IG series our improved MDT and MLS technologies are
coupled with our new UDIO (upside down/inside out) woofer
design. UDIO is an inverted cone diaphragm woofer driven
by voice coils wound both inside and outside the former. With
UDIO frequency linearity actually increases as signal level
goes up. With the combination of these audiophile grade,
weather-defying technologies, our IG Series achieves a new
pinnacle of performance. All IG models use coaxial direct
radiating drivers. We don’t need to cover them under a plate
or cone and we don’t load them into a megaphone. NEAR
IG Series speakers produce uniform (unreflected) dispersion
for musicality and, rely on the inverse square law for natural
sound pressure roll-off for neighbor-friendly performance.
The handsome yet rugged roto-molded LLDP (Linked
Low-Density Polyethylene) enclosure is “color-through”
so garden tools won’t harm its looks. The three layer
compound grille has a stainless steel grille lined with a
hydrophobic fabric backed by a stainless steel mesh. This
ultra-rugged grille assembly sheds water and keeps out
debris and small creatures.The IG 8 is attractive enough
to install “free standing” and can be easily camouflaged
among planters and pots. It’s stylish design also provides
functional rigidity and extra security when buried.
