Discussion: See attached Slides
1. Title: Call for Proposals (ref: Slide deck)
Comments:

IIT Bombay, Tata Teleservices:
o Include “WLAN Access Controller – AP interface study and standardization possibilities” as a fourth
focus area
Conclusion: To be updated in Meeting #2 V1.2 slide-deck. Gather more information from Tata Teleservices on the
exact requirements for study/analysis to help define scope.

2. Title: UE Battery Optimization (ref: Slide deck)
Comments:
 Intel India
o WiFi ON/OFF by network controlled policies is a highly discussed topic in 3GPP. User preference is
given higher priority.
o But from TSDSI perspective, given the strong requirement to study/analysis the requirement to
control WiFi ON/OFF to save battery, this topic can be relooked.
o Possible solutions : first thoughts in slide-deck. One of the options is to look if this can be added in
the proposal of integrated eNB/AP (collocated physically or logically).
 IIT Hyderabad & Bombay:
o The requirement was to control WiFi switch on/off both in Trusted and UnTrusted WiFi access
cases. So, not necessarily applied to co-located eNB/AP cases.
o Counter Argument: Is this requirement really important? Question arises if WiFi Power consumption
is really high when ON. Can chipset suppliers provide some data (802.11 a/b/n/g/ac..)

Qualcomm
o To consult with internal experts and check if there is any existing support or work already done as
part of 3GPP to address this requirement.
Conclusion: Gather WiFi Idle mode power consumption data. Accordingly decide if it makes sense to identify
solutions to Switch ON/OFF Wifi based on the interworking scenario. Deadline to close this topic W32 2014.

4. Title: Seamless Flow Control (ref: Slide deck)
Comments:
 Intel India
o Investigate if Integrated eNB/AP solution can address this requirement
 Technical Study needed of current proposals in 3GPP (Control Plane/User Plane aspects)
 Study all use-case scenarios. Identify Pros/Cons.

IIT Hyderabad
o How are roaming scenarios handled in integrated eNB/AP proposal
Conclusion: As a first step, IIT Hyderabad (BheemaArjun) to start listing the various use-cases and scenarios.
Other members to contribute.
