The Challenge
Decisions about application
placement and consumption are
growing more complex. The right mix
of public and private cloud resources
are required to support business
initiatives, but a lack of visibility and
interoperability make it difficult for
Enterprise IT to effectively leverage
both public and private cloud
together. Nonetheless the business
will not wait, and IT needs to deliver
the required infrastructure and
application support quickly and easily
to the business – or risk losing
relevancy.
The Solution
Implementing EMC Enterprise Hybrid
Cloud enables IT to:
• Leverage public and private cloud
resources seamlessly
THE ANSWER TO BIG CHALLENGES
Application requirements – whether it’s ERP or Mobile and Analytics – are the
driving force behind IT infrastructure decisions. As Cloud becomes more
prevalent, decisions about application placement and consumption models are
becoming more complex. Pressure is coming into Enterprise IT from all sides –
developers, end users, line of business owners – to eliminate complexity by
quickly delivering the right IT services and applications to support the business,
no matter what their projects require. Over 70% of our customer’s CIOs have said
that IT will need to build and operate a well-run hybrid cloud in order to balance
these needs. The challenge for Enterprise IT is that it can be difficult to bring
together the performance, security, compliance and control of private cloud with
the flexibility of public cloud while maintaining interoperability and visibility. Until
today.

CUSTOMER SUCCESS
Deliver on-demand, self-service
capabilities
Bridging the gap between traditional
and next-generation applications is a
challenge, but it offers massive
opportunity. Ultimately, you’ll need a
software-defined approach to change
the way you deliver services to your
end users.
SELF-SERVICE AND AUTOMATION
The EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud self-service portal is powered by workflows that
completely automate previously manual, time-consuming and error-prone IT
processes. This automation enables a self-service portal that empowers users to
provision right from a predefined multi-cloud marketplace to get what they want,
when they need it.

agreements (SLAs) is maintained and that your cloud is running smoothly.
Automated, intelligent analytics-based monitoring that's integrated and connected
to all levels of your cloud infrastructure makes it easy to deal with performance
and capacity issues.
METERING AND CHARGEBACK
Provide visibility into internal IT cost, and transparently pass those private cloud
or public cloud costs onto the business users of the cloud services. This is further
enhanced by pre-loading industry standards and vendor-specific data to help you
generate base prices for your physical infrastructure. The value IT delivers to the
business could not be made clearer.
SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE
Reduce the concerns around the complexities of the underlying infrastructure by
integrating with centralized identity management to provide centralized
administration and tighter control over security.

DATA PROTECTION AND AVAILABILITY
Data protection is integrated right into the self-service portal. Users can choose
their own backup policies, monitor the status of the backups, and perform both
on-demand backups and restores. All based on policies defined by IT, reducing
manual efforts from IT administrators.
In the event of a site disaster, recovery is done by having the ability to trigger a
failover of the entire private cloud infrastructure to a remote site. This key feature
preserves the entire cloud environment and closes Recovery Point Objectives
(RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) gaps.
ACCESS TO EMC CLOUD SERVICE PROVIDERS
Resources and services that are offered by public cloud providers work seamlessly
with your private cloud infrastructure.
In addition, if the IT organization chooses not to build and run an EMC Enterprise
Hybrid Cloud solution, the option to engage an EMC Cloud Service Provider to do
it is possible. The ability to purchase, build and run the cloud on the provider’s
site (co-location), or have the Service Provider purchase, build and manage it.
