CAMPBELL COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY POST OFFICE BOX 500, RUSTBURG, VIRGINIA 24588 www.campbellcountyva.gov To: Local Media From: Campbell County Department of Public Safety, Frank Smith, 434-332-9642 Re: Upcoming Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Date: Monday, September 8, 2014 For Immediate Release Campbell County Department of Public Safety Offers Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course: American Heart Association Basic Life Saving (BLS) for Health Care Providers and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Course Rustburg, VA – The Campbell County Department of Public Safety, in conjunction with the American Heart Association and the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services, is pleased to offer the following Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course and its’ pre-requisite for those interested in serving the emergency medical field: American Heart Association Basic Life Saving for Healthcare Providers (a pre-requisite only offered in conjunction with registration in the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Course) September 17, 2014 6:00 p.m. Rustburg Rescue Squad (238 Village Highway, Rustburg, VA) Fee: $2.00 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Course October 7, 2014 through February 7, 2015 Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Rustburg Rescue Squad (238 Village Highway, Rustburg, VA) Fee: $90.00 for text book (available the first night of class), plus registration fees for final testing/exams following the course. Fees will be discussed during the class session. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic course covers a minimum of 154 hours of educational instruction. The course applies a combination of: classroom lectures, web-based self-guided study, practical skills application, and direct observation in the pre-hospital setting (to prepare the individual to care for victims of sudden illness or injury). -continued- RESPECTING THE PAST, ATTENDING THE PRESENT, CONCENTRATING ON THE FUTURE Please note, completion of the American Heart Association Basic Life Saving for Healthcare Providers course is required prior to the start of the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Course on October 7, 2014.
