Most types of learning provision, including that which is based on a Distance Learning Package are eligible for funding under the Scheme. Enhanced Learning Credits (ELCAS 1527) Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) • ELC Awards are available in two “tiers”: the “Lower Tier” level of up to £1000 per annum for those with four or more eligible years’ service; and the “Upper Tier” level of up to £2000 per annum for those with eight or more years’ eligible service. The Award is for new entrants who do not have prior teaching experience or qualifications and especially suits those individuals who are already working within their chosen environment and are wishing to gain official qualifications. Employers in certain sectors will require individuals to have gained this qualification prior to offering employment. Delivery methods: • The duration of the Level 3 Award in Education & Training (QCF) course is 4 days intensive classroom based training plus self-study. Units covered: • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education; and • Understanding assessment in education and training Entry requirements: There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification; however, a good standard of literacy is required. Trainers offering this qualification must have completed this programme. This course is intended for trainers who wish to offer physical intervention skills training to individuals or who wish to train other training providers; it is not intended for licence applicants. Delivery methods: The City & Guilds Level 3 QCF Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is delivered as classroom and observation based package. Units covered: • Unit 1 – Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles & Practices of Assessment A single unit, knowledge only Award for those who need to know about assessment but who are currently not practicing. • Unit 2 – Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement A two unit Award for practitioners who assess skills, knowledge and understanding during training. No equivalent in A & V units. • Unit 3 – Level 3 Award in Assessing Occupational Competence in the Work Environment A two unit Award for practitioners who assess occupational competency in the workplace. • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement A three unit certificate (comprising of the above three Awards) for practitioners who need to be qualified to assess in the workplace and during training. There is no equivalent in A & V units. 10 www.hzlgroup.com COMBINATION COURSES (Teacher & Trainer) TO TRAIN IN THE SECURITY INDUSTRY City & Guilds Level 3 This combination of courses is aimed at those learners who wish to become trainers within the Security Industry and offers the individual recognised qualifications within their chosen work environment. Individuals will also be required to be sector competent in their chosen field and have experience in the industry. Course includes: • Level 3 Award in Education & Training (QCF), City & Guilds, (4 days) • Conflict Management Trainers Certificate, City & Guilds Level 3 (2 days) • Physical Intervention Trainers Award, City & Guilds Level 3 (3 days) Optional Course: • (CAVA) City & Guilds Level 3 Assessor Award (also referred to as TAQA) (Additional time required for classroom work and observations) • The course is run over a 10 day period (plus self-study and project work) TO TRAIN FIRST AID This combination of courses offers the individual recognised qualifications and is aimed at those learners who wish to become trainers of First Aid. Candidates must hold a current First Aid at Work certificate prior to commencement of the course and be experienced in First Aid. Course includes: • Level 3 Award in Training & Education, City & Guilds (with two observations of teaching a First Aid session) • Level 3 Award, Assessing Vocational Achievement. (A two unit Award for practitioners who want to assess competence in First Aid in the workplace) The course is run over an 8 day period (plus self-study and project work). www.hzlgroup.com 11 SECURITY INDUSTRY QUALIFICATIONS (QCF) City & Guilds & Highfield (HABC) Level 2 (QCF) Door Supervision Course (Level 2) (QCF) Security Officer Course (Level 2) (QCF) Individuals wishing to complete the Door Supervisor module must first complete the recognised Licence to Practice in the Security Industry core module which consists of four units: • Core Module Working in the Security Industry • Roles & Responsibilities of a Door Supervisor • Conflict Management • Physical Intervention The recognised Licence to Practice in the Security Industry qualification consists of three units: CCTV Operatives Course (Level 2) (QCF) Door Supervisor Upskill Course (QCF) The recognised Licence to Practice in the Security Industry qualification consists of three units: Door Supervisors who are due to renew their badge after Feb 2014 have to complete the Door Supervisor Upskill course which consists of four units: • Core module of Working Within the Security Industry • Roles & Responsibilities of a CCTV Operator • Practical use of the system and assessment • Roles & Responsibilities of a Security Officer • Communication • Conflict Management • Physical Intervention skills • First Aid awareness • Considerations when dealing with 14–18 year olds • Terrorist threat awareness The duration of the Security Courses is 30 hours over a 4 day period. On successful completion individuals can apply for their Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence. The duration of the Door Supervisor Upskill Course is 1 day. 12 www.hzlgroup.com CLOSE PROTECTION (QCF) City & Guilds Level 3 (QCF) This course offers Close Protection for both service users and those already operating within the Private Security industry. The course combines both theoretical and practical training with on-going assessment and culminates in two fully operational exercises conducted in the public domain. • Full SIA requirements met • Trainers include operational CPO’s from the hostile, military and executive close protection sectors • All equipment provided (excluding laptops) • On successfully completing the course you will be able to apply for your SIA Close Protection Licence The duration of the Close Protection course is either: • an intensive 15 day course (non-residential) • or on a modular basis (1-6 modules) over a period of six weeks (Friday pm until Sunday pm, nonresidential) www.hzlgroup.com 13 MARITIME SECURITY (QCF) City & Guilds Level 3 (QCF) The Maritime Security Operative (MSO) Course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of ex-service and police personnel who are looking to gain entry into the private maritime security industry. On successfully passing the MSO course candidates will be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of maritime security along with a recognised industry award which will increase their chances of employment within their chosen work environment. Candidates who successfully pass the MSO course will be exempt from having to gain a Personnel Designated for Security Duties (PDSD) certificate. Units covered: 1. Understand the Maritime Security Industry 2. Understand Maritime Pre-Deployment Planning and Procedures 3. Understand Maritime Security Operating Procedures 4. Understand Maritime Incident Management and Post Operational Procedures Candidates will be assessed for practical and theoretical understanding and the final assessment will culminate with an interactive table top exercise and practical exercise. Course duration is 5 days. 14 www.hzlgroup.com Level 3 QCF - Awarding Body Qualsafe 3 Day First Aid at Work (FAW) Course (QCF) A First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification will make a positive contribution to the safety of your workplace. After qualifying in First Aid at Work (FAW) you’ll have the essential skills to handle any First Aid situation, from minor slips and trips to the most serious of incidents. Units include: • Health & Safety • Common fears of First Aid • Primary survey • Secondary survey • Recovery position • Heart conditions • CPR • Serious bleeding • Spinal injury • Wounds and dressings • Embedded objects • Burns and scalds • Strains and sprains • Shock Assessment is carried out by written theory tests and practical assessments. FIRST AID 2 Day First Aid at Work Re-qualifier Course (FAWR) (QCF) This course is for those candidates who hold a FAW Certificate that is about to expire. Your FAW Certificate is valid for 3 years and you must re-qualify beforehand if you want to avoid having to do the full course again. Units include: • Managing the incident • Priorities of First Aid • CPR • Primary survey • Secondary survey • Blood loss and treating bleeding • Treatment of shock • Head injuries • General discussion on work place injuries Assessment is carried out by written theory tests and practical assessments. FIRST AID After successful completion of the FAW and FAWR courses and assessments, students will be awarded the Qualsafe approved First Aid at Work Certificate which is valid for 3 years. www.hzlgroup.com 15 FIRST AID - Level 2 QCF - Awarding Body Qualsafe 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course (QCF) 4 Hour Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course This course covers the skills required by a First Aider in the modern workplace and will equip you with the knowledge to deal with First Aid emergencies. This course covers the theory and practical procedures for CPR and use of an AED. It also covers the importance and benefits of early intervention and emergency treatment. Units include: • understand the role of the First Aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions Units include: • Treatment of an unconscious casualty • CPR • understand the importance of basic hygiene in First Aid procedures • Heart attacks • assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency • Operating the AED • Introduction to the AED • AED Health & Safety issues • administer First Aid to a casualty who is unconscious and / or in seizure Continuous assessment is used to evaluate the candidates and there is no final practical assessment. • administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation No previous First Aid knowledge is required to attend an AED course. • administer First Aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and / or in shock • administer First Aid to a casualty who is choking • provide appropriate First Aid for minor injuries Continuous assessment is used to evaluate the candidates and there is no final practical assessment. The duration of the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (QCF) is 9 guided learning hours (GLH). It will provide learners with the knowledge of basic food safety practices that are essential within the catering industry as well as identifying the hazards and risks to food safety from both preparation and storage procedures to those presented by personnel when handling food. Assessment is by a multiple-choice question examination paper. Learners gaining this qualification will be able to identify how to implement changes in their food handling practices in order to improve the safety of their catering services and also be in line with industry and regulatory standards.
