Which explored the geological history and processes that created the landscape we see in the county today. In this, the second seminar, we bring together a number of specialists that between them will talk about ‘The Geology and Landscape of the Fen Edge’ which is a unique landscape feature, not only within the county, but within the UK. We will take a look at the various types of fossils found in the sedimentary rocks and be able to determine the type of creatures that lived along the Fen Edge. Many of these fossils can be found today in the local museums across the county. Topographic mapping will illustrate the Fen Edge and the landscape around it like never before. This pioneering work is being carried out by Cranfield University and will prove to be extremely important as the members of the Cambs Geosites Team continue their survey of the geological sites of interest along the Fen Edge. We do hope that you will join us for the day to help support the local geological sites and their conservation and to learn much more about our geological history and what it means to us today. The seminar is aimed at the general public and is a day to be enjoyed by all. In addition to the talks there is also an extensive exhibition area with various rocks and fossils on display. If delegates would like to display their own relevant information, there are display boards available, so just bring your presentations along on the morning of the seminar or make prior arrangements by contacting myself. Lunch, arrival, morning and afternoon teas and coffees are inclusive in the delegate fee.
