hile attending our Great Lakes
Unit Meet in Cincinnati I had the
unexpected opportunity to visit
the Shriners Hospital for Children –
Cincinnati with other interested members.
It is a lovely, well-designed hospital
specializing in burns victims. We toured
all parts of the hospital that were open
that day and then watched a video - a
brother and sister’s story of their fight for
survival at this hospital; the difference
the medical help they received made for
them, with both growing to become
accomplished adults – there wasn’t one
dry eye in the group by the end of the
story. We all left feeling so proud to be a
part of this wonderful philanthropic
organization – one that has life-altering
effects on so many children treated
within our hospital system.
On behalf of Bokhara Court I extend
hearty congratulations to Ill. Sir Terry
Fulton and his Divan and wish Rameses
Temple a very successful 2014.

and myself travelled to Toledo Ohio for

he Algonquin Shrine Club had a special occasion at our Christmas meeting. It is
rare that a Shrine Club would have two members presiding as a D.D.G.M. at the
same time.

lways one of the largest
fundraisers for the Shrine is
the Annual Christmas Cake
Drive; just a great time to get out
and show the Fez and meet old
acquaintances. Tip of the Fez to
Nobles Jack Reid, Don Dyson and
Bill Rogers for organizing this year’s
event.
We were sold out of cakes by the
Saturday before Christmas, first time
in quite a while, we even had
people leaving their names for cake
orders. At left, Noble Willy Oliver

#108, as well as their Installation of
Officers. Bokhara Court provided the new
Court with their Canadian flag and pole
as our gift. It was a historic event for
Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America,
which we felt privileged to be a part of.
I look forward to our March 9th
Hospital Tea and extend a warm welcome
all Nobles to join us as we celebrate this
past year’s accomplishments. All Bokhara
Court Club and Unit members have
worked diligently to acquire the items
and monies to be presented during the
Tea to Celine Doray, Administrator
Shriners Hospital for Children – Montreal.
As a result of the efforts of many
Court members, I am proud to end my
term as High Priestess with 24 new
members; I hope we continue in this new
direction, putting an end to our declining
membership.
Bokhara Court #22’s 89th Installation
of Officers is April 5th at which time Lady
Marilyn Willette becomes Bokhara Court’s
new High Priestess, hopefully in the new
Temple building! It has been an honour
to be Bokhara Court’s 88th High
Priestess, a wonderful journey that has
deepened my commitment to our purpose
– the children within Shriners Hospital for
Children’s system.
