Wir sind p i n q p o n q. Und wir machen Taschen. Für das Stadtleben, seine
typischen Bewohner und ihre Bedürfnisse. Aktiv, unterwegs, beschäftigt,
flexibel, modern und bewusst.
Und wir lieben schöne Dinge. Deshalb
reicht es uns nicht, wenn Dinge nur
funktional sind. Bei unseren Produkten
wollen wir den Luxus schaffen, dass
Ästhetik und Funktion zusammen kommen und sich gegenseitig vervollständigen, anstatt sich auszuschließen.
Und wir haben Verantwortung. Wir
finden es wichtig, dass wir nichts
auf Kosten der Welt und Anderer tun.
Unsere Produkte sind aus PET-recy
celten Stoffen und wir haben uns
bewusst für Produzenten entschieden,
die Arbeitsbedingungen schaffen, in
denen auch wir gern arbeiten würden.
Damit glauben wir, uns und Euch das
Leben verschönern und erleichtern zu
können.
We are p i n q p o n q and we make bags
for people who typically live in the city
and their needs. Active, on the move,
busy, flexible, modern and confident.
And we love beautiful things. That‘s
why we‘re not entirely happy if things
are merely functional. We want to bring
aesthetics and function together in
our products and for them to have the
luxury of complementing each other
instead of being mutually exclusive.
We have responsibility. It is an important aspect of our stewardship to do
nothing at the expense of the environment or others. Our products are made
of recycled PET-materials and we have
deliberately opted for manufacturing
partners on the basis of their working
conditions, the main criteria being that
we, personally, would be happy to work
there.
This way we think that we can make
our lives and your lives easier and more
beautiful.

Lani ist Modedesign-Studentin. Sie war einen Tag für
uns in Köln unterwegs.
Lani is a fashion design student. She spent a day out
and about in Cologne with us.
Wie bist Du dazu gekommen, Dich mit Mode zu
beschäftigen?
Ich habe schon immer gerne kreativ gearbeitet
und schon früh Kleidung gezeichnet. Als ich ent
deckte, dass es so viel mehr über Stoffe, ihre Haptik
und Eigenschaften zu erfahren gibt, war es dann klar,
dass das meine Berufung ist. Nach meiner Ausbildung zur bekleidungstechnischen Assistentin habe
ich an der HS Niederrhein mein Studium begonnen.
How did you get into fashion?
I have always liked creative expression and started sketching clothes at an early age. When I discovered there was so much more to learn about fabrics
and about the tactile properties of textiles, I knew
it was the career for me. I‘m a Technical Assistant in
the clothing industry and the aspects I value most
are handcrafted. That‘s why I decided to a course for
foundational skills before I started my degree.
Was schätzt Du am Stadtleben?
Die Vielseitigkeit, die einem eine Stadt wie Köln
bietet. Vor allem finde ich es wichtig, immer gute
Verkehrsanbindungen zu haben, um zu jeder Zeit
überall hinzukommen. Für mich wäre es absolut
nichts, nur einen stündlich fahrenden Bus im nächsten Dorf zu haben.
What do you like about city life?
The diversity which a city like Cologne has to
offer. A good transport system is a priority for me so
that I can get anywhere at any time. I couldn‘t cope
with living in a village with a bus running once an
hour in the next little town.
Was ist Dir wichtig an einem Rucksack?
In erster Linie muss er eine gute Optik und Größe
haben. Das Material ist mir ebenso wichtig. Er muss
gut auf dem Rücken sitzen und gleichzeitig gut aussehen. Dann kommt das Innenleben: ich mag prak
tischen Stauraum. Ich achte auf kleine Extras und
gute Details, denn das sind für mich Zeichen von Liebe zu einem Produkt.
Was ist Dein Lebensmotto?
Fang da an wo du bist, nutze das was du hast
und mache das, was du kannst! Hinter allen Wolken,
befindet sich immer ein blauer Himmel – kitschig
aber wahr.
What qualities do you look for in a backpack?
The most important things are size and good
looks. The material is also important to me. It must
be comfortable to carry on my back and look good
at the same time. Then as far as the inside is concerned, I like practical compartments. Of course I look
at the little extras because they are signs to me of
loving attention to detail.
What is your motto in life?
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what
you can! Every cloud has a silver lining – corny
but true.

Klemente is an architect and designer. He spent a day

Wie bist Du dazu gekommen?
Ich habe schon früher gerne eigene Möbel gebaut
und dann dachte ich, dass ein größerer Maßstab der
Gestaltung spannend sein könnte.
How did you get into it?
I used to like building my own furniture when I was
young and then I thought that design could be exciting on a bigger scale.
Was schätzt Du am Stadtleben?
Menschen. Gebäude. Straßen. Cafés. Gassen.
Kultur. Unterschiedlichkeit. Inspiration.
What do you like about city life?
People. Buildings. Streets. Cafés. Alleyways. Culture. Diversity. Inspiration.
Wie verbringst Du Deine Freizeit?
Unterwegs. Am Meer. Auf der Straße. Neuland.
What do you do in your free time?
Go places. To the seaside. Down the street.

Was liebst Du an Deinem Beruf?
Das kreative Arbeiten in anregenden interdiszi
plinären Zusammenhängen! Unabhängig davon,
ob es sich um ein kleines Objekt, ein Haus oder ein
Stadtviertel handelt. Die Denkweise bleibt immer die
Gleiche.
What do you love about your job?
The creative aspect of the work in exciting interdisciplinary settings! It doesn‘t matter whether it is
a small property, a house or an urban district. The
mindset is always the same.
Was packst Du in Deinen Rucksack?
Alles was ich zum Arbeiten brauche: Skizzenbuch,
Laptop, Telefon, zu viele Bücher, Geodreieck, Stifte,
Füller, Kopfhörer, Badehose, Reisepass, Fussballschuhe ….
What do you carry in your backpack?
Everything I need for work: sketchbook, laptop,
telephone, too many books, set square, pens, fountain pen, headphones, swimming trunks, passport,
football shoes ….
Was ist Dir wichtig an einem Rucksack?
Variabilität, viele Fächer.
What qualities do you look for in a backpack?
Versatility, lots of compartments.
Woran arbeitest Du gerade?
Dem Großen und Ganzen.
What are you working on at the moment?
The bigger picture.

Wie bist Du dazu gekommen?
Während meines Studiums der Musikwissenschaften und Romanistik hat sich herausgestellt,
dass ich mir erlauben kann nur Musik zu machen.
Seither mache ich das auch.
How did you get into it?
While I was studying for a degree in music and
romance studies, it turned out that I could take the
liberty of just doing music and that is what I have
been doing ever since.
Wie bist Du nach Köln gekommen?
Der ursprüngliche Grund für meinen Umzug nach
Köln im Jahr 2008 war ein Praktikum bei einem
Musikmagazin. Abgesehen von kurzen Unterbrechungen lebe ich seither in Köln.
How did you end up in Cologne?
I originally moved to Cologne in 2008 to work as
an intern for a music magazine. Apart from odd times
away, I have been living in Cologne ever since.
Was schätzt Du am Stadtleben?
Köln ist die größte Kleinstadt oder eben die
kleinste Großstadt, die ich kenne.
Wie verbringst Du Deine Freizeit?
Musik, Freunde, Sport.
Was liebst Du an Deinem Beruf?
Die Selbstbestimmtheit.
Was packst Du in Deinen Rucksack?
Meinen Laptop und mein Fahrradschloss.

Cologne is the biggest small town or the smallest
big town I know.
